We are in a hotel in Tenerife a few km along the coast from the hotel thats locked down. Our flight is this afternoon. This is after spending some time yesterday reading the last couple of dozen pages of this thread and deciding it prudent to do a bit of supply stocking when we get home.
We have emailed the kids schools explaining the situation; it will be interesting to see what they say regarding returning to school.
Didn't half term finish on Sunday? Teh school will probably be more interested in finig you than preventing the spread of Covid-19 We have emailed the kids schools explaining the situation; it will be interesting to see what they say regarding returning to school.

I never quite understand gents who stroll up to the urinal, spend 45 seconds rummaging in their briefs like they are trying to wrestle a wild badger out of a Hawthorne bush. Then once done they start waving the thing about like its an out of control fire hose and as though they get some points for ensuring they really are done... finally stuffing their 2" member back into its little exact spot, double checking, "adjusting" themselves several times and as the final cherry on the cake a nice fart.
I hate it when people watch you having a slash.m3jappa said:
I just can’t accept there aren’t thousands and thousands of people all over the globe who have it.
Your telling me that places like Italian towns are a hotbed as opposed to major travel hubs like London, Paris, New York etc?
No new ones in the Uk? Really?
Surely it’s a case of loads of people have it, no ones getting tested until someone gets ill and it’s confirmed and then all the people they have been in contact with are tested and they are now confirmed cases as well.
I don’t know if the above is good or bad, good I suppose?
That would be good news as it meant the percentage of people who actually get sick would be tiny. Your telling me that places like Italian towns are a hotbed as opposed to major travel hubs like London, Paris, New York etc?

Has anyone seen a decent map which defines the boundaries of the lockdown zones?
It appears that they have identified towns, rather than defined zones. The word “zones” is your introduction, which you’ve then used to open up a question around boundaries. I find this tedious.https://www.lexico.com/definition/lockdown
"An area or stretch of land having a particular characteristic, purpose, or use, or subject to particular restrictions."
https://www.lexico.com/definition/zone
>> "lockdown zone"
"If you have returned from these specific areas since February 19, you should call NHS111 and stay indoors and avoid contact with other people even if you do not have symptoms:
Iran
Specific lockdown areas in Northern Italy as designated by the Government of Italy
Special care zones in South Korea as designated by the Government of the Republic of South Korea"
Is it bad that I quite enjoy making some people on here look silly?

The infection was spreading unchecked in Hubei for at least a month before the lockdown and just prior to the lockdown 5 million buggered off, that's over half the population of London disappearing into the surrounding provinces (and worldwide) and the total number of cases in the rest of China would struggle to fill Halifax Town football ground.....
I missed the bit about the 5m buggering off, if that detail came from China auths you could be cynical and think there were 5m infected and China ‘dealt with them’ poo at Paul's said:
The idea is to limit the spread of it where you can, not just say think oh st, I gave it to xyz, so I may as well give it to everyone else.
You're right and lack of hand sanitiser is not on, however, most people should be carrying their own.
I don't remember seeing any information on Corona in arrivals. So basic preparations have not been taking place in Airports. You're right and lack of hand sanitiser is not on, however, most people should be carrying their own.

Yuck
Got flu and have returned from Italy last week (Aosta valley).
fingers crossed
NHS advice doesn't suggest any action and I'm pretty sure its just normal cold/flu, but you cant help think.
If it was C19, then its everywhere, been loads of places with lots of people.
Cant really see how they hope to contain it.
It might just be a matter of time until the advice is updated to include Iran and northern Italy.Got flu and have returned from Italy last week (Aosta valley).

Might be worth a call just to see what they say as the symptoms are almost identical to flu.
"If you have returned from these areas since February 19th and develop symptoms, however mild, you should stay indoors at home and avoid contact with other people immediately and call NHS111. You do not need to follow this advice if you have no symptoms.
Northern Italy (defined by a line above, and not including, Pisa, Florence and Rimini),
Vietnam
Cambodia
Laos
Myanmar"

https://www.businessinsider.com/5-million-left-wuhan-before-coronavirus-quarantine-2020-1?r=US&IR=TNothing really adds up at all. even if 99.9% of that 5 million were uninfected that would still leave potentially 5000 new chains of infection with an R0 of say 2 (being conservative). It doesn't add up to my way of thinking. It's either easy to contain and they've managed it or it's not easy to contain and they're lying.
I can't imagine even China could make 5 million disappear in a month. 18 months probably, a full 2 years easy, but a month....

I think Windy Common was suggesting something along the lines of "which towns have been locked down" would make more sense and be rather less dramatic.

Oh I dunno, didn’t they ‘build a hospital’ in 10days?
They managed to stack a few hundred shipping containers together in 10 days. I'd love to know how much use the new "hospital" is actually getting. https://youtu.be/3Sh7hghljuQ
