Just had to move seats on train as a huge girl squeezed into the seat next to me. Completely crushing me then coughing, sneezing, blowing her nose.

Then loudly on phone telling her friend how she's had this cold since Berlin 2 weeks ago.

People have no shame.

Going to start driving to work. Looks like it'll be cheaper than the train despite the fact my car is a 90s gas guzzling BMW.

Did he mention that WHO didn’t find any significant numbers in Wuhan that didn’t need hospitalisation, or what evidence there is that the vast majority will only get it mildly?
The definition of ‘mild’ seems to vary - the west assumes that’s a sniffle but the WHO mission found it to often ‘walking pneumonia’.

Whoops - a zero or two went amiss there!

BBC tell us hospitals have ‘nothing left in the tank’ to cope with coronavirus

Hmmm
Honestly I don't trust anything HMG are saying. The fact there are people all over Europe with this disease but basically nothing here has to be total BS. I think they just trying to stop panic and hope it runs its course before things have to be made official and it does massive economic damage to a country that's already on the brink of major economic crisis.

People, including myself, think the stats from China are "massaged" but I think we can easily be as guilty. The second you say this someone will jump in defence of HMG.... just like in China!
That’s the baffling part though isn’t it. They couldn’t keep it quiet if that was true and people were in a serious condition.

So if it is here (which I agree it must be) people here must have a sniffle.....
You think there are already infection outbreaks here and we’re just not being told by Govt?

Seriously?
No
A bit silly to post it then.

It's getting to a situation where it will run its course and markets will recover. Probably close to a buy with certain stocks that have dropped as a result of this outbreak.

I certainly think its here. There is no way it cant be. Serious cases, no I doubt it. But mild cases, or people with no symptoms 100% I think so.

I think that the government will want to buy as much time as possible if things turn "messy" to quote the who dude.

This was the point I was making. No one is willingly hiding it but it has to be here.

It’s fking impossible that a small village in Italy is the only place with lots of cases in Europe.

There is zero logic that I have seen which can attempt to defend the thinking that it’s not here and very well spread.

Six hundred flights in and out of Heathrow each day. One airport of many.

And not one case apparently that we don’t have recorded or discharged.

No chance.

Excellent extended interview with Paul Cosford (Medical Director for Public Health England, https://publichealthmatters.blog.gov.uk/author/pau... on Sky News this morning. Of all the experts the media have engaged, he was (for me) by far the clearest and most credible.

Some key points on which he was very clear:

- only people with symptoms are being tested because the test doesn't work well in those with no symptoms
- "...for all practical purposes..." people with no symptoms are unlikely to be transmitting the virus
- the vast majority of people who contract the virus experience only mild symptoms
- the vast majority of people experiencing those symptoms make a full recovery

I expect it'll be up on the Sky News website at some point. It's worth watching.
How can he say that "for all practical purposes people with no symptoms are unlikely to be transmitting the virus", when the first case of a UK national getting it, he transmitted it to the entire 11 people in his party staying in two different ski chalets when he says he had no symptoms? It's the ONLY P2P example we have in the UK, FFS.
Either Walsh had symptoms and is lying, or this guy's full of ste and can immediately be discredited and ignored.

It would amaze me if people aren’t on the London Tube right now, with this virus. London airports are massive transit points, and a huge number of people get off ‘planes and onto public transport.

I suspect the government know this, even if they can’t prove it. They can’t prove it because the people getting off the ‘planes have no idea they are infected.

Do I think there are hospitals full of of sick people that we aren’t being told about - no, that would be fking stupid.

Because the millions of people who don't have symptoms don't have the virus?

I assume as part of the intense testing they're going to do some of it it will be based on the info below, I am expecting a spike tomorrow.....

If you have returned from these specific areas since February 19, you should call NHS111 and stay indoors and avoid contact with other people even if you do not have symptoms:

Iran
Specific lockdown areas in Northern Italy as designated by the Government of Italy
Special care zones in South Korea as designated by the Government of the Republic of South Korea
Hubei province (returned in the past 14 days)
Public Health England Medical Director now saying this morning that if you are returning from ANY AFFECTED COUNTRY (not area), you should self isolate for 2 weeks.

Still fancy that bargain holiday to Tenerife?

This is all entirely predictable, and very much now closing the stable door, our Govt, the WHO, PHE are fking useless wkers.

Looking at the news today, I do believe we are now firmly in pandemic territory.

What can we do... I don't know? We are a month or so outside of needing a bunker, not that I have one. And locking up inside the house would be seen as a bit "nuts". To be honest, right now it would be. But its the only thing on the table.

If we leave "lockdown" until the last moment, then we have a good chance you will have already caught it.

uhh?

The first and only non cruise ship case for a UK national with it, has no symptoms and yet gave it to EVERYONE he was staying with.
So on that basis, it seems it is extremely likely, not unlikely that people with no symptoms can transmit the virus, the evidence says exactly that. Unless Walsh is lying, of course. That's possible as some initial reports were that he was bed ridden with in in the chalet, but he later says not.

That’s fking bullst though isn’t it. If they want people from any of those countries to self isolate, why not stop flights from them?

Oh no, crack on going to them, but deal with it yourself when you get home.

People won’t stop travelling around Europe unless the government stops them. Millions do it every day just as part of their days work.

Exactly, it is just paying lip service to it all.
Reports now coming out that for the last few weeks, grey exporters have been buying UK stocks of HIV drugs and Anti Malaria drugs, and stocks are now very low. Our wonderful Govt, once they go the crucial bagged coal ban out of the way, (phew) have just stepped in to ban such grey export sales!

And now, finally a Cobra meeting being called.
