Here’s a question. Could you catch this bug more than once? Once recovered, are you immune to this?

Anyone care to comment?

Was it ever reported what happened to our two original cases in York?
Discharged about a week ago.
The NHS announced on the 15th that 8 of the (at the time) 9 cases had recovered and been released from care. Likely that the two from York, being the first, had actually recovered some time before that - the NHS being very cagey about individual cases.

I'm sure there's been cases in China of people getting re-infected, but I also read the German health department say that one of the patients released had antibodies to the virus. Long and short, I don't think so unless it mutates, I don't trust any of the mis-information coming out of China.

Trump, and a number of his senior staff, do seem to be very much of the Thankyou4calling persuasion regarding the potential threat of covid-19.
If the US get a large outbreak they are stuffed. ICU bed is $5,000 to $10 000 per day. Plenty of people have no healthcare insurance and no sick pay. The most common reason for bankruptcy in US is healthcare costs.

Just a few of the reasons it’s rife in China and not so much in the west.

No doubt now desperate to get home to China where it is safer.....!!!

The Sky News Outbreak Special leaves me under no illusion that the BMA, Public Health England and the SOS for Health have the slightest idea how this is going to pan out.

The comments from the UK doc based in Montpellier (vaccines specialist) about the reaction to SARS and how geared up we were to H1NV by 2005, compared to where we are now was quite chilling.
Back then, large stocks of anti virals and an effective vaccine produced and stocked in large quantities. Now, obviously no vaccine yet, but worryingly, no stocks of antivirals.

Was reported yesterday that the Govt banned the grey export of anti virals and anti malaria yesterday, but all too late as stocks have gone, obviously someone making a shed load of cash in the process.

No good news from that programme, that's for sure.

Glen field hospital in Leicester had additional isolation wards set up in the car park on Monday so if you get it in Leicester you will be stuck in a portacabin in a car park.

Lovely

Presumably Govt will have other plans? China was using ‘recovery’ serum, various pills and that Remdesivir stuff with good results. Don’t know what the side effects are but put it this way - anyone needing treatment isn’t going to be given aspirin and left with a cup of tea to see what happens. I reckon they’ll be right on it.

Are you sure that's not for the building work due to start next week?

Having said the Glenfield is one of the leading hospitals for treating accute respitatry distress syndrome. in the UK and has one of the very few ECMO ( heart lung machine to oxygenate blood outside the body) wards in the UK. It's the place you would want to be if your lungs are screwed by the coronavirus.

Somehow I don't think that's the response citizensm1th was looking for...

Dr JC reckons it might have mutated in Iran. Deputy Health Minister and an MP both tested positive.
