Reluctantly having to sell my Tuscan as I need to free up some cash for an investment, but I will probably be left with about 10k to play with.

Can't bear the thought of only having the 1 daily car! So looking for something fast, fun, handles well, solid feeling, something not too old but flexible on that, I do tend to like the bigger sports cars, hence the Tuscan. The Tuscan fit my needs really well but excluding TVRs, what else might fit the bill?

Thanks

Might be a stretch, you might find a leggy one for £10k, but agreed for 10k you are getting a sub five second 0-60 track car, brutally fast. The NAs are slower but still pretty quick. In either case sitting inches off the ground in a go-kart made for the road makes it feel hugely fast anyway!

Aye leggy or a cat car... either way that's where my money would be going

Thanks but there is no chance I'm fitting in a VX220. I have tried, failed and it's not a pretty sight! I do prefer the slightly bigger cars, it doesn't have to be an all out track focussed road car, just something quick, characterful, I do a lot of long drives to Germany and something that could suit that drive would be good so I had the option of taking it instead of my CLS instead.

And sorry, no bikes, not my cup of tea

My brother has owned a number of pretty fast bikes and used to go over to Brands quite regularly. Let him drive my old NA VX and he loved it, and he isn't a fan of cars by any stretch!

handling doesn't need to be Vx220 good, just reasonable for what will effectively be a larger car

Should probably be clearer, practicality doesn't need to be there but I guess by the nature of what I'm looking for it will have some sort of practicality. maybe something approaching a GT type fast car, but definitely only 2 doors I think.
Think of a Tuscan, it's fast, low slung coupe, but definitely not a tiny car, it's approaching a GT type car

Z4 Coupe? Great cars. The straight six is a peach.
350Z? Bit like a TVR... (thirsty and uninspiring) but much more reliable

How much are the Jag XKR 4.2's these days?

Guessing the 5.0 is still above budget.

£2k off might be a stretch but that works for me.

S2000? 370Zs are dropping, you would get change from 10k for an HR 350z? 6 cylinder/3 litre Z4?

yeah definitely on the right lines now. The XKR 5.0 would be my top choice, I do love them, but I don't think they'd be in budget

350/370z are certainly ones to consider, but don't really do it for me, though I've never driven either so don't know for sure

They are GT cars, not sports cars, so plenty of low down torque rather than the polar opposite high revving S2000. They are a bit wallowy, but a small amount of suspension work sorts that out. You can get an HR for something like 7k now, not bad money for a two seater V6.

He actually said the fastest he can get for 10k, and subsequently that is a GT car, two doors wink

There is a distinct difference between fast and fastest 'given'...
