If Sanders or Biden (too old imho) had any sense they would step aside and all unite behind Buttgeig, glad to see he won, now whether American is ready for a gay President ...

Buttgeig would be an excellent choice, appeals to the non-establishment, isn't too far left leaning and essentially the opposite of "trump".

In reality i think the Democrats will *uck it up, create animosity between their voters with respect to their own candidates and split the vote in so far as they don't turn out on election day.

The Bible belt will never endorse him even when he does stand out as the best choice.

That poll needs another entry:

Whoever unrepentant says won't win.

A bit better to wait to see who the superpacbillionbairesDNC chooses as their candidate?

The Bible belt will vote R no matter what. They're votes already counted. D's will ignore them.

What Trump needs to worry about are voters in the mid west who are suffering due to his trade war. If the democrats go after them he could lose several key states. There is even a chance of him losing Texas.

The fight is going to be over, as always, the swing states. Places like Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, Virginia and New Hampshire. I'm not surprised to see Buttegeig (sp) in the lead but I can't see him winning the nomination, it would be fantastic if he did but I can't see it.

I don't think Trump has a chance against any of them. Modern elections are essentially popularity contests and any of the D candidates are more likable than Trump.

The trumpettes love to forget Trump got in by a whisker and only because he was pitted against a less likable opponent. Against someone who can command popularity he has no chance.

You get the impression even the democrats want him elected.
If only they could communicate to the electorate the idea of how they themselves woud feel about someone they experienced that constantly lies and is disruptive.
Maybe they should just run true crime stories as election adverts then at the end show trumps similarity.
But you get the impression even the democrats want him elected.

I think Bloomberg will emerge as the likely candidate when all of the dust settles. I also rejoin he is the only one with the slightest shot at winning, with Trump at almost 50% approval.

It will be interesting to see if Donald can bite his tongue if Buttigieg becomes a front runner, or indeed the nominee. One homophobic slip and there would be a media ststorm.

I'm not sure if that would actually harm Trump at all though. Even those who voted for Pete seem to take issue! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTQlwARreXc

I think that young woman should be president for remaining calm and clear and smiling, against that "bigoted old hag"!

Democratic debates restarted last night.

It would appear that Buttigieg and Sanders are going head to head into the next voting round.....

we're 4 years in to an trump-must-be-destroyed media ststorm. Would him dropping a gay bomb or two would change anything, besides the same people saying the same things that haven't worked as yet? They systematically reference him as orange Hitler - I mean, where do you go from there in your attempts to discredit, what criticism has weight?

I can see Biden doing that - like a decent comedian dealing with a heckler, or Bloomberg, who will just punch him, metaphorically on the nose and on the actually on the wallet.

Biden is damaged goods. The scandal over his son's business dealings will plague him if he ever has to go head to head with Trump. Also his penchant for smelling little girls hair and not knowing which city he's speaking in, doesn't augur well for him.

Trump's penchant for grabbing pussy and not being able to say Emirates, forces, McArthur, tolerated, etc, don't seem to have done him much harm.

Only a farce because of the framework within which it exists, which is effectively a ‘trial by selected best mates’. trump is quite plainly guilty, but there seems to be not a single republican with a spine between the lot of them. It’s pitiful really.
You obviously didn't watch the kangaroo court that was the partisan Democrat impeachment process - what a sham.

The one which called witnesses and had evidence was the kangaroo court, not the one which refused to look at them - is that what you're saying?

the people who's vote is required to win (that's ignoring the party faithful on both sides) are aware of what trump is. The democrats, having criticised him from the moral high ground for 4 years, cannot now run with a fully exposed steaming turd of a crook and expect this voting class to reconcile that.

...wouldn't put it past them to try, though.
