Give him his due, he didn't volte-face the way G-Morto did when his beloved idol spake forth on the issue.

I still think this mask thing will be Sturgeon's undoing - the policy makes no sense (regardless of sam's mental contortions about 'mitigation') and there will be resistance for that reason.

Mystic Meg here loves a premonition. Shame they’re so consistently wrong. Didn’t you believe that Ruth Davidson would be the savour of the Tory party in Scotland? What happened there then? laugh

Please, entertain us all with your woeful tail of how face masks breach your “real freedom”. I was always sceptical of the term “privilege” being banded about by the likes of BLM, feminists etc but when you have someone literally crying like a toddler about being oppressed for being asked to wear a face mask you realise that pirvilege is indeed a real thing and oh my god is it pathetic hahaha
You are a hoot man. Nothing to do with 'oppression' and everything to do with senselessness. The question is being asked all over social media by unionist and nationalist alike - why in the dying throws of a pandemic are masks a good idea from an arbitrary date some time in the future when the risk is anticipated to be lower than it was from the time of the pronouncement and significantly lower than the several months that preceded it?

'Emerging evidence' doesn't cut it as an explanation BTW.

If I didn't know any better I'd suspect Nippy had bought shares in a mask manufacturer and wanted to boost her dividend.

Not asked, told.

If you don't understand how being mandated into wearing certain items, travelling in a certain way, having your business closed down and generally not being able to go about your normal daily business is impinging on our freedom then you're even thicker than you have demonstrated previously.

Some of us prefer freedom. Real, actual freedom, to make our own decisions, not the fake freeeedumb your indy pals want, to jump into bed with failing states like Greece, Ireland and the rest.

WTF will we you when she goes? In all seriousness there's going to be a pretty big void to fill (yes Cherry is plenty big enough to fill it hehe), she absolutely dominates everything, from the party, to the pretendy parliament, to her manky coupon being an ever present fixture on our screens. How will you cope when you don't have her instructing you every day? Telling you what you can and can't do? Dictating what is acceptable and what is offensive?

What a delicate little snowflake you are. Can you please dm me your address? I want to send a first class white feather to you.
I don't usually come into this strange little corner, could someone with more experience translate this please?

Sorry to break it to you but your personal freedom doesn’t really matter. Your ability to buy a fosters at the local spoons doesn’t take priority over an international pandemic.

If you want to live like a free man, become a gypo no one is stopping you (ironically I bet you despise gypseys).

It’s really not my problem if you’re illiterate. Evercross is a teacher I think so he’ll be more likely to help you there.

Are you the one that has an uncle that was a student of Churchill? Yet you don’t know what being presented with a white feather represents?

How disappointing.

Here’s an idea, contact the Scottish Government directly which you’re quite able to do to ask the question rather than bh about it like a disgruntled 13 year old on her first period.

Just to reiterate to all the hypocrites on here again. I hope you won’t be avoiding businesses because you’re being told to wear a face mask. After all, your primary concern was to get the economy back up and running...
Says the person who stated categorically he wouldn't wear a mask and took the piss out of the people who would consider doing so when the Scottish Government published their first advisory notice on face coverings, Sorry, but you checked out on this issue then.

I thought you might have covered your tracks and deleted the post but you're either not that smart or socio-pathically arrogant (suspect both considering your monkey comment about health professionals who know more than you).

You are a grade A hypocrite with zero credibility and zero self-awareness as far as this is concerned.

I already addressed that point, refer to my post from a few pages ago.

You’re also lacking a bit in your perception skills. I’m not really criticising people on their beliefs in the usefulness of face masks, just their whiny bhing about being made to wear them as if they’re now oppressed slaves from the 1800s.

Again, see my point reg privilege. I hope the people complaining about this never have to face true oppression, they’d never be able to cope.

The first business I'm interested in keeping going is mine. Which is why I've been ignoring the ego tripping wee boot and been doing my own thing for about six weeks.

It's been great tbh. Lots of enquiries, empty roads, (almost) nobody giving a fk about masks and best of all being hard at work means I don't see Nicola Sturgeon talking ste on tv. I've had friends over at the height of lockdown, met two randoms from Tinder and generally carried on exactly as before. As for shops I'll be making more use of my local Asian place, where they give bags for free and I guarantee won't be insisting on masks.

What Covid?

So lets ignore the fact that you’re a lonely selfish bd for a second, you’re essentially saying that you’d have abided by your own rules regardless of what political power was in place. After all the conservatives and most policitical parties around the world would have placed restrictions upon your “freeeeedum “

Remind us why you’re particularly upset about Sturgeon? Because she’s stricter and as a result doing a better job than Boris?

Also find it ironic that you’re using the “Asian place” as an example of lax rules about face masks considering its generally been accepted in their culture prior to Covid-19 being a thing.

I'm particularly upset about Sturgeon because as ever she is entirely unnecessary. We do not require a Scottish parliament, we don't need different rules because we're 5 mins up the road from Newcastle, and we certainly don't need her trying to make political capital out of every decision, whilst punting all the blame back on Boris and allowing him to take the flak for doing the real governing, ie. raising the taxes to pay for her spending.

Thankfully she's on borrowed time.

My wife is a clinician, she and her clinical colleagues agree there is little evidence to suggest that face coverings worn by the general public are much use at all. To comform to the nonsense wee Krankie has introduced I have bought myself a snood, it covers my face and therefore satisfies her stupid rules. The reality is that is about as effective as a sieve as far as protection goes..utter nonsense

I posted this last night on the other forum in response to your question. Genuinely interested in your views:-

From WHO

Potential harms/disadvantages
The likely disadvantages of the use of mask by healthy people
in the general public include:
• potential increased risk of self-contamination due to the
manipulation of a face mask and subsequently touching
eyes with contaminated hands;(48, 49)
• potential self-contamination that can occur if non-
medical masks are not changed when wet or soiled. This
can create favourable conditions for microorganism to
amplify;
• potential headache and/or breathing difficulties,
depending on type of mask used;
• potential development of facial skin lesions, irritant
dermatitis or worsening acne, when used frequently for
long hours;(50)
• difficulty with communicating clearly;
• potential discomfort;(41, 51)
• a false sense of security, leading to potentially lower
adherence to other critical preventive measures such as
physical distancing and hand hygiene;
• poor compliance with mask wearing, in particular by
young children;
• waste management issues; improper mask disposal
leading to increased litter in public places, risk of
contamination to street cleaners and environment hazard;
• difficulty communicating for deaf persons who rely on
lip reading;
• disadvantages for or difficulty wearing them, especially
for children, developmentally challenged persons, those
with mental illness, elderly persons with cognitive
impairment, those with asthma or chronic respiratory or
breathing problems, those who have had facial trauma or
recent oral maxillofacial surgery, and those living in hot
and humid environments.

...
Many countries have recommended the use of fabric
masks/face coverings for the general public. At the present
time, the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the
community setting is not yet supported by high quality or
direct scientific evidence and there are potential benefits and
harms to consider.

Religious observance might work as well. Why don't we mandate that? Because something might work is hardly a reason to criminalise it's non observance. Allowing politicians to indulge their whims through the force of law is profoundly antithetical to a healthy democracy. Do you really think the Scottish CMO knows better than Whitty and Valllance? What evidence are we relying on? If it is compelling let's see it. The economy is best supported by adopting long term sustainable measures that don't lead us into a permanent culdesac from which there is no no escape until treatment or a vaccine emerges.

Be warned ninepoint2. My wife is an intensive care nurse with responsibility for infection control in her entire hospital, and when I mentioned this and said she agreed with what you just said because all the actual scientific studies and data from the mask producers says so G-Morto went all psycho and called her a monkey.

@G-Morto - in this thread we've guys like technodup and biggbn who have polar opposite views but respect each other and have the respect of everyone because they are principled and argue their case. It is blatantly obvious that you aren't here for the debate and have no principles. You are just here for the fight and have chosen the side that gives you the greater opportunity to brandish your fists.

It seems to me the evidence only started tipping towards mask use in the last few weeks. Lots of countries suddenly mandated masks after sitting on the fence.

Address the point I made following your link to the CDC. A lot of the 'evidence' being cited is over a decade old. The timing therefore must be political expediency.

@ash

Does WHO recommend the wearing of face coverings or not?

I work with GPs. They wear PPE - visor, mask, apron, gloves doing housecalls. They don't wear masks sitting in the car with me or popping into shops.
