It's probably cheaper to build more hospitals and allow it to burn through us than put everyone on furlough.
If it were that easy we would do it. You can’t build the staff to go with them though. We already had a nurse shortage and this isn’t west world.
Isn't it? The administration wants everyone to be a little robot and do what they have programmed us to do!

Why is it that most of the SNP councillors or vocal members appear to be "no stranger to Gregs?"

Most of them remind me of Union Reps who, when I was involved, were in it for what they could get or claim with little reference to actually doing anything.

Mind you, when I last visited Scotland, the obese females were fairly plentiful. And seemed to love themselves strangely.
Correct: they are keen to tell everyone about "personal responsibility" when, to be frank, some of them need to take the initiative and stop gorging themselves to death at everyone else's expense. And the same goes for the booze as well. I usually could not care less about what other people do but in this brave new world, I feel entitled to speak out on these subjects. When are we going to start moralising about debt as well?

The masks themselves I've no real issue with. However why they decided to open all the shops then only making masks mandatory two weeks afterwards, who knows...

Much like the local council here restricting roads to allow for more space for pedestrians, then allowing pubs to put tents over both the road and the pavement resulting in less space than they started with.
The concept of all of this stuff is fair enough, there just is a massive lack of logic behind the execution of it.
Agreed!

I'm afraid we have decided to criminalise obesity. It's a drain on our precious resources and is necessary to protect the NHS.

Why can't we have a weekly weigh in with Freeman, Hyslop and the other obese politicians who are intent on controlling every aspect of our life? Fattest has their jaws wired for the sake of my mental health...

Well Done. I need to shed a stone but when I see some on Pointless or the Chase (always quiz shows!) I think "How can you get to that size without thinking, hang on, I'm getting a bit big..."

Sorry I digress, but I recently found out that my brother does the same as me in shouting at the telly when there are huge people on it. When asked what hobbies they have, I shout out "Eating" or "Pie Tasting". I must have some fat shame tourettes or something...

Heard yesterday of a recent random study of 25000 in England. 8 cases detected. So 1/3000 roughly. So that 1000 cases in Scotland is roughly 1/5000 people infected. Sounds reasonable. So 1/5000. And for that we are keeping some businesses closed and using the law to force mask wearing?

Get used to this...
More people will get killed by lightning than passing someone at 15m. 15m spacing? Just close the world. Nobody will die - until they starve to death.

To be fair I was a bit of a gym monster with some big numbers, but i have decided age 50 there are more pressing (no pun intended) things in life, like, erm, living a bit longer. Don't smoke or drink much and have a clean diet but my present calorie deficit and cardio output is unpleasant, but shifted a stone in 5 weeks so gonna keep on keeping on. Slight thread drift, as you were...

You boast about once a week that you are ignoring me, and ask others why don't do the same, and generally reply to me about once a day in the 3rd person. Would you call that a success?

Day one of the masks in shops law round here and I've already had enough.
1. My glasses quickly steamed up so couldn't see what I was doing.
2. Plonkers seem to think that social distancing isn't required cos they have a think piece of cloth over their beak.
3. I hate shopping anyway.
4. No enforcement so half the customers weren't bothering.
5. You end up touching your face to adjust the mask/get it on/off.
6. If a shop is busy enough that distancing can't be achieved them I'm not going in anyway. ^
7. There is mixed opinion from science if non medical masks worn by untrained people actually help or actually make matters worse.

^ I accept exceptions such as barbers, don't fancy them cutting my hair with long handled shears!

So for now I'll get my groceries delivered instead and avoid the high street. I'm fairly sure I'm not along in this thinking and together with councils removing the parking in town centres it won't be too long before there are no shops left anyway.

Random sampling started in Mid May.

Test positivity rate is falling in line with hospitalizations.

We can estimate infections with reasonable confidence.
