Well if it helps, out of a sample size of 1 (me), nobody tested positive for covid-19 today. The test had nothing to do with scotgov, instead it's part of my pre-mobilisation checks for work.

It was a non-NHS test, my company has a joint venture with another oil company which has paid for a separate lab (setup in Aberdeen) to do the analysis.

I'll post back tomorrow with the results of the rest of the guys on the flight.
Pleased to report 0 out of 13 on the flight tested positive in the end.

Fantastic news. Another glowing endorsement of the leadership skills of the Chief Mammy during this time of crisis. Benevolent thanks to the Dear Leader.

fk Norway.

If Norway's so fking great (as all the nationalists say it is) why not fk off there? Maybe because they're hypocrite fks who don't actually fancy paying more tax and definitely don't want fked in the wallet every time they want a pint. Plus it's even colder than here. stehawks.

Certainly had a funky rhythm to it.

Are we sure people don't want to pay more tax?

've been upset all along with the power grab going on. It's been an absolute liberty the way they've been dictating to us. Shutting down shops? Stopping parents from seeing children and grandchildren? fk right off.

The worst thing is the supine little sheep just going along with it. Well actually even worse is the ones not just going along with it but actively promoting and policing it on Facebook and in the shops. Not to mention the ones obsessed with stats and graphs and comparisons with other countries online. Freaks.

You'd hate it. No masks and no prospect of another lockdown. In fact speaking to my Norwegian brother-in-law at the weekend, the general view over there is that they massively over-reacted to a nasty cold.

Sounds like exactly the kind of situation I would like Scotland to be in.

Definately worth another half hour live prime time press conference. I'm sure it will be on in all the pubs.

I don’t wish to pay more tax.

I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in this group who don’t wish to pay extra taxes so it can get spunked on whatever bullst we are calling “fairness”

No of course you are not alone. There is apparently about 25% of voters who think the same as you.

Happy to pay more tax to be 'spunked' on fairness, just for balancesmile

Edit, lots of angry posters here and elsewhere. Politics brings out the worst in many!!

I'd bet a lot of money that stat is absolute bks. Most people want other people to pay more tax, not themselves.

I'd guess if you reversed it, i.e. 75% don't want to pay more tax you'd be about right.

I think the problem is that a significant percentage of voters want other people to pay more tax, as long as they personally don't.

In my previous job I paid more tax than my English, Welsh and Northern Irish colleagues, whilst working all across the UK & Ireland, doing exactly the same job, all so Nicoliar Saviour of Scotland could p!ss the money up the wall on whatever latest wasteful virtue signalling policy was prevalent at the time. I'm more than happy to pay an equivalent rate of taxation as everyone else in the UK, but not the extra taxes to fund the nationalists pet projects.

Define fairness then.

What’s fair and what’s not fair?
Who judges what’s fair and not fair?

Curious as our different lives and experiences will likely give very different answers on what is and isn’t fair.

Just to confirm that anyone who want to pay more tax can do so voluntarily. I would have though that with 75% of people willing to pay more tax that there would be more than the 10 or so voluntary payments per year. Go figure.

Part of the problem is tax evasion amongst the super rich, trickles down and rots everything. Tax evasion is the root of so much, from Brexit, to excessive inequality right through to political dysfunction.

It's fairly similar to the mask debate. There is a clear majority who is in favour of mandated masks for the common good. However, the individual is not inclined to suffer more than his neighbor on a voluntary basis. There is a tipping point however. When there is clear taxation rules, strictly applied, with minimal evasion, then sentiment is much approved. People don't like paying if they can sense others are being treated differently.

But not all VAT that should be paid is paid due to cash in hand jobs, buying things down the Barras etc. A lot of people apparently say that they are willing to pay more tax but how many of them also avoid paying tax by paying cash in hand, pay into ISAs or pensions?

I see, and hear, a lot of people moaning about increases in council tax every year, which suggests a lot of people are not really wanting to pay more tax.
