I'm not convinced her career would have recovered.

We live in the modern age, she would forever have been held up as an example of a female domestic abuser

Lets not forget a former boyfriend insinuated she had done similar things (maybe not physical but emotional).
Am not so convinced, I reckon she would have been back on primetime telly in no time at all, after a brief stint in prison, she could have paid her showbiz penance by doing a documentary/ campaign about wimmens rights in prison combined with some therapy on self reflection carried out on social media.

Then back to normal and her past glossed over.
Agreed. She'd have to have a respectable time away from things then would have done the full "repentance" act and would be earning far more than she previously did after three to five years. Not something any man who did the same could contemplate.

her career would have likely recovered, examples include, Cheryl as mentioned, Ant Mcpartland (Drink driving crashed into a car with a child inside), Richard Bacon, blue peter career over due to cocaine now works in the US, Johnny Vaughn did time for drug dealing as did Tim Allen, Paris Hilton went to jail (i forget what for). Lots of celebs do bad things and its all forgotten if they are popular.
I'd forgotten about him. I believe that it was actually drug trafficking of a seriously large amount of cocaine. Think he was looking at (or maybe sentenced to) multiple decades of incarceration until he turned State's evidence on the rest of the gang.

... add in Gemma Collins, barred from being a Company Director for three years this week for her Ltd Co being liquidated owing over £70K in VAT, at a time where she was making huge drawings from it. Basically stealing from the public purse.

How TF do you get years behind on VAT payments??? Returns are submitted quarterly.

Denise Welch (coronation street and Loose Women) abused her hubby, although it was couched in terms of fighting each other, he apparently never hit her according to herself:

“ Speaking about the violent clashes with her ex, she said: “I’ve whacked him over the head with a lampshade before. And a hair-dryer.

"I once pushed him and he slipped in some milk and put his arm through the door and nearly severed his arm.

“We had some humdingers, we really did, fuelled by excess. Always. They were scrappy and physical, but he’s never hit me in his life.”

Got to be honest I dont understand tax and money either and I'm self employed. That's why I pay an accountant a small fortune every year to sort it for me. On the money she's probably on, theres no excuse.

Cheryl and some of the others committed their crimes before the world of social media. Someone like Flack would be constantly reminded about it (if she were found guilty)

No point comparing her to Ant - he seemed to get a free pass because
a) he is so well liked by the public
b) and difficult for ITV to drop someone that big in their schedule

If this bodycam footage exists and was released then no doubt everything would be 10x worse.

There's no excuse full stop.

If you're the director, the buck stops with you.

Sounds like accountant was filing the returns for her (and probably telling her what, when and how to pay). Her part was easy and she failed to do it. Being banned from being a Director is never going to a sufficient enough punishment for someone like her. Probably decided to take HMRC for all she could.

Don’t think the accountant (if indeed she had one) was submitting anything

“ 'By failing to ensure it submitted returns and made payments as required for VAT so that as at liquidation, Boutique had an outstanding liability of at least £71,745.04 in respect of VAT.

'[The] boutique's first return for 08/13, due for submission and payment by 7 October 2013 at the latest, was submitted on 16 March 2015 with a sum due of £5,692. No payment was made in respect of this return.”

Im amazed the HMRC didn’t act sooner with field force TBH

Agree because a) she wasn't dropped and b) he's part of a duo which makes him doubly valuable and dilutes his offence.

If he's the director he's not self employed? wobble

Have to admit, I'm a director and I don't understand it all. I can be in the right ballpark, but when the accountant starts talking about the percentage asset depreciation in year three I start to lose the will to live.

I wouldn't have paid my VAT either except that I'd figured out enough to register for it, then HMRC eventually sent me a red letter and at that point I went running to an accountant.

Sorry, couldn’t help myself.

IAMA director too, FWIW. I pay for some online software and an accountant. The software generates the vat returns, I send the output to the accountant. He verifies it and tells me what to pay, when by and how to pay. I’m on the flat rate scheme which does make it infinitely easier.

There is no point in comparing them because their crimes were totally different. You need to compare the treatment to other celebrities accused of domestic violence.

hehe

The flat rate scheme is another case in point - my accountant told me I'd be better off moving off it. So I did, couldn't tell you what the calculations were to figure that out. I send them a spreadsheet of my expenses at the end of the year and they tell me what adjustments to make in which box numbers on the next VAT return. It's like painting by numbers for me, I don't really know what box 7 is.

People weren't quite so forgiving of Justin Lee Collins were they?

I see there was some bint moaning about a South African pap taking her picture, before then chasing him through the airport videoing him. I mean she's in mourning for goodness sake! Have these people no shame? *please like my insta story where I tell you how tough my life is*
