A little surprised that there is no thread yet on “The Split”, a BBC lawyer/family drama with plenty of adulterous affairs and office back stabbings, Nicola Walker and Stephen star as husband and wife gearing up to go to war.

Second series now... first series on iPlayer if you missed it. Quite enjoyed it, not particularly likeable characters but ok to pass an hour.

We've been watching it on iPlayer in small pieces from time to time, mainly for my wife's sake. Onto the second series now and I've had to say I can't remember watching anything where the main character was such an unpleasant person. Not that the rest of them are much better, apart from the husband who seems reasonable.

By main character I assume you mean Hannah Stern, née Defoe, played by Nicola Walker.
Ms. Walker has the unfortunate drawback that her face often looks severe, as though she’s just been given bad news, and is unsure of how to digest it.
I don’t see Hannah as unpleasant, but it’s your prerogative to see the character how you wish.
I think that Hannah has found herself in an untenable situation, the blame for which stems from her own actions in the past, and she’s coming to realise that, and is desperate to save her marriage and keep her family together, but as much as he obviously loves his children, and cared deeply for his wife in the past, her husband, Nathan, is strong willed, and I can imagine him blowing up and either walking quietly away, or even killing Hannah and/or her Dutch lover.

I see her like that mainly because of her appalling hypocrisy, while continuing to make her husband squirm with guilt she secretly goes and has sex with the guy she did the same thing with the night before her wedding.

You make a very valid point, I guess that it just goes to illustrate that different people will see a character in a film or TV show in different ways, I can’t argue about the way that you see Hannah, but maybe because I find her strangely attractive, (certainly not beautiful), I’m prepared to see her in a better light.
My wife says that I only see her as attractive, because she has a million dollar wardrobe of beautiful clothes, she says that if she, (my wife), had clothes like that, I’d be fighting men off her all night when we go out!

Enjoyed the first series and watched the second series over a couple of nights last week and enjoyed it too. Nothing special but good solid entertainment and Donna Air plays her part well smile

I watched, and sort of enjoyed the first series, the story and characters had a bit of backbone and sass to them.

This series seems to be reverting to that London centric middle class fantasy, metro-melodrama that the BBC and ITV are so keen on these days, which ultimately leads to characters who are rather unsympathetic, whiny, woe-is-me and generally just a bit spineless (thought the same of Netflix's The Stranger too)

I actually had the pleasure of briefly working with Nicola Walker many year ago around the time she was largely known for Spooks - lovely lady, very funny, feisty and uncommonly unpretentious in real life.

Finished the second series last night. As might reasonable be expected, it was obviously written with another series in mind. Nothing properly resolved with the main plot and many sub-plots on which quite a bit of time had been expended left dangling. It was entertaining but unsatisfying.

I’ve just finished the second series and agree that it was a slightly unsatisfactory ending! Not really a cliffhanger nor a mystery....

We will definitely watch a third series though.

Quite enjoyed it again - plenty of plot in the first episode. Still short on particularly likeable characters, but entertaining enough to spend an hour on a Monday evening.

I'm glad other people are enjoying it, which proves that the BBC didn't entirely waste the amount that I chipped in. For my part I cant understand why anybody would go to that much trouble, and spend that much money to produce something like that.

The gap between series hasn't helped and it took me a few minutes to get back into it. It's good tv as it makes for quite uncomfortable watching a lot of the time.

Thought the accident was a bit far fetched though - convenient for the storyline but more thought could have gone into alternatives.

I'm 3 episodes in at the moment and I'm still enjoying it.

Unless I misunderstood the accident, the bike looked in pretty good condition when she picked it up at the Police Station.
