trumps been up tweeting about how he personally had a great response to the Coronovirus, how everything is great.

Worth a read of this years budget and the response. It's not been approved by the Senate but includes huge cuts to the CDC budget, along with cuts to health, education...

Cutting education will certainly firm up the voter base for this type of President going forward.

GOP are doing everything they can to ensure Sanders is running against trump, along with the russians. I've already posted the video of trump supporter voting for Sanders

“I’m a Republican & Trump supporter... we have an operation chaos going on & all over the state we’re encouraging Republicans to vote for Bernie because we believe Bernie is the best worst candidate in contrasting his socialism against Trump and his capitalism.”

"I want Bernie to be the nominee because it would be a real clear contrast between an avowed socialist... and an avowed capitalist."

Now the GOP is South Carolina are running social media adverts to encourage their voters to interfere in the Dem primaries and vote for Sanders

A Trump-Sanders smoking gun.
South Carolina Trump activists in a much-promoted Facebook video: "We're asking South Carolina Republicans to show their support for President Trump by crossing over and voting in the Democratic primary for Senator Bernie Sanders."

trump was irritable yesterday

At one point during a lengthy pool spray shortly ago in the Cabinet Room, Trump got irritated when a (visibly pregnant) reporter from NBC,
@HallieJackson, slipped quietly out of the room.

He said NBC is worse than CNN, and that he made lots of money for NBC with The Apprentice.

He re-upped the attack again soon after, saying it was "pretty pathetic" that the NBC reporter had slipped out of the room.

(I don't know why she left. But reporters had been standing for nearly 90 minutes, either outside the room or in it.)

https://twitter.com/josh_wingrove/status/123317533...

Turns out shes 8 1/2 months pregnant and they had been left waiting for trump for 90 mins. She also happens to be the reporter who asked him yesterday about contradicting his experts.

However bonkers/unaffordable/communistic the Bern's policies may be they would still have to be filtered through the funeral parlour of Congress, where ideas and principles go to die; he would most likely end up in a similar position to Trump with most of his extreme stuff either rejected, watered down or simply not funded, the worst outcome being 4 years of America having a dyspeptic grandpa in the Whitehouse wagging his finger at them and complaining that they haven't funded M4A properly. Even that seems preferable to Trump.

Mind you, Boris is attempting the same tactics.

Seems they both know that 2 idiots can outvote a genius. And if you can control the idiots....

It would be rather ironic that after Trump depends on the economy for his 2020 win, and with all those sanctions on China to boost that, that a small Chinese virus, Chinese Flu, does him in.

That's probably not PC but it might actually have more bearing on matters than Russian viruses in 2016.

Some of the video of Stone's pre-sentence deposition is online. It's ... bizarre:

https://twitter.com/politico/status/12334102767387...

Is he trying for a "sentence commuted due to being mentally unwell" outcome?

It obviously can't be seen as a huge threat by team trump, as Pence, who is in charge, is concentrating on a fundraiser instead

The country’s new point man on coronavirus response, Vice President Mike Pence, is expected to travel to Florida on Friday — but not on a public health mission.

Instead, Pence is headed to the moneyed barrier island town of Longboat Key, where he’ll be the main attraction for Congressional Republicans in one of their biggest fundraisers of the year.

It’s $2,500 to get in the door and $5,000 to take a picture with the vice president, according to an invite obtained by the Tampa Bay Times. And $25,000 buys dinner with him, too.

On top of that:

Pelosi: "The Trump Admin has failed to provide Congress with a report on the ongoing attacks on America's elections from foreign govts, which was required by the bipartisan FY2020 National Defense Authorization Act ...[It] showcases his brazen indifference to the Russian threat."

Schiff is pressing acting DNI Grenell to declassify part of the report related to Jamal Khashoggi's murder as they've not given that over either

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is pressing President Trump's new top acting intelligence official to declassify part of the report related to the killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

In a Thursday letter to acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell, Schiff argued that the National Defense Authorization Action (NDAA) requires the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to provide an unclassified report about the death of Khashoggi, a U.S.-based journalist who was slain in a Saudi consulate in Turkey in 2018.

https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/48505...

and House Democrats are seeking interviews with the four career prosecutors who quit the case of Roger Stone after Trump and Justice Department leaders intervened to demand a lighter jail sentence.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) requested the interviews in a Friday letter to Attorney General William Barr that also included broader demands for documents and testimony about allegations of political interference by Trump in the work of the Justice Department.

Good summary Byker. I've got some comments on this later, but eating my tea at the moment. One should never let anything get in the way of the digestive tract.

I'm going to say here that Trump was damned if he did and damned if he don't, to quote Bart Simpson, on putting Pence in. But it's still an iffy choice.

It may be that that little virus doesn't care how good the person in charge is, that is the worrying thing ... if it does do as virus' do. To quote Bart Simpson again.

I actually dislike Pence more than Trump to be honest. I'm not sure how well that will go down on here. I might try and explain it later and then be ripped a few more orifices after a beer or two ! Tea first though.

Good man, never let anything get in the way of a meal.

As for Coronovirus:

Trump said he has no regrets about those actions and that expertise and resources can be quickly ramped up to meet the current needs.

Former federal officials and public-health experts argue that an effective response to a epidemiological crisis demands sustained planning and investment. While the administration’s response to coronavirus has been criticized in recent weeks as slow and disjointed, people in and outside the White House have warned for years that the nation is ill prepared for a dangerous pandemic.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/trum...

The U.S. insisted on developing its own Coronavirus test, even though the WHO already had one that worked, then they found out the U.S.'s test didn't work and so they are weeks behind in proactively testing for an outbreak.
Remember they've already brought people in from infected areas and 'tested' them.

As the highly infectious coronavirus jumped from China to country after country in January and February, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lost valuable weeks that could have been used to track its possible spread in the United States because it insisted upon devising its own test.

The federal agency shunned the World Health Organization test guidelines used by other countries and set out to create a more complicated test of its own that could identify a range of similar viruses. But when it was sent to labs across the country in the first week of February, it didn’t work as expected. The CDC test correctly identified COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus. But in all but a handful of state labs, it falsely flagged the presence of the other viruses in harmless samples.

As a result, until Wednesday the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration only allowed those state labs to use the test — a decision with potentially significant consequences. The lack of a reliable test prevented local officials from taking a crucial first step in coping with a possible outbreak — “surveillance testing” of hundreds of people in possible hotspots. Epidemiologists in other countries have used this sort of testing to track the spread of the disease before large numbers of people turn up at hospitals.

“Testing for coronavirus is not available yet in New York City,” a Dept of Health spokeswoman said in an email late Thursday. “The kits that were sent to us have demonstrated performance issues and cannot be relied upon to provide an accurate result.”

Pompeo appeared before the House Foreign Affairs Committee where ⁦for a hearing on the Trump administration’s Iran and Iraq policy and its use of force in the targeted killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.

When asked to stay for a few more minutes, he refused to stay longer than his allocated two hours

Pompeo said killing Soleimani was a "de-escalatory measure." "He was the regime's top terrorist... Removing him from the battlefield was a de-escalatory measure"

Funny I thought there was an immediate threat to american lives, many embassys were threatened according to trump.

Pompeo is getting HAMMERED by Dems on the Trump administration's coronavirus response.

“Americans have lost trust in their government,” said Rep. David Cicilline. “We’re facing a serious global health crisis in the form of the coronavirus and trust is more important than ever.”
