So I've been looking at detailing brushes recently as I'm building up my kit to give the car a full day of some love, but something that sounds simple has actually been quite overwhelming! The types, the sizes, the brands...

What's the safest type of hair to be safe on the paintwork, but good enough to get the dirt out? or should I go for the rubbery bristles?or am I really overthinking this? And any decent brands to look out for or would almost anything off Amazon be just about fine?

The ValetPro brushes are quite good, and seem to hold onto their bristles unlike the widely available cream and red brushes. The Atlasta Soft Tip is more expensive but is far more robust and ideal for scrubbing in nooks and crannies without marking the paint or losing its shape (they do a stiffer wheel brush which is also “badged” by Autoglym, and lasts forever).

Google "sash tools"

generally much cheaper and pretty much the same thing as a "detailing brush".

Sounds like you are over thinking it.

I always have a couple of packs of these in the kit bag -

And these are super soft, ideal for super soft surfaces like piano black trim etc

I use detail factory brushes, by far the best brushes i have ever used.

They are a little more expensive than most brushes, but far more gentle than hogs hair, esp on piano black trims, wheel faces etc.

Once you have used one you will wonder how you ever washed a car without one.

Probably one of the nicest brushes I've used to date was one I recently purchased.

In fact, i've been very impressed with all of the Revive products i've tried.

I really like the Work Stuff detailing brushes.

There's a few different bristle types - natural bristle, super soft white and heavy duty black ones.

I'd highly recommend them.
