Also, kudos for assuming my current time zone as me being any where near to bed time - currently mid afternoon as it happens!
A siesta then! Either way; you’re due a few winks I reckon. Treat yourself For the love of god, have a vegan cycling team, wrestling team and Everest climbing team or Pussy Cat Dolls official mounting team...
Just stop f**king telling everyone the defining characteristic of said team is their dietary choice... it's boring!
I suppose we could create the PHEV Cycling Team who also happen to have PHEV's and lovely push bikes!

Just to confirm though, you do not get to simply refute a position just because you know - I know you youngsters like to think that simply saying something makes it so - unfortunately, the world doesn't work that way!
Well it is not far off done time here and I am checking out for a bit - we have a table booked at a cracking seafood place at 1800 and I am back in Blighty come Thursday.

I'm sure this thread was started by a preaching meat eater no ?
Yes; the irony!I started it on the grounds like I particularly dislike politics/beliefs being brought into company policy.
I don't think I'd class myself as a 'preaching meat eater'. I prefer fish, I eat meat-free quite regularly, on average probably eat no meat at least half the week.

Conversely I think a private company can do what they like. Most already advocate various CSR/Ethical/Sustainable/Environmental policies. Some even advocate political viewpoints. Their money, their choice.... the free market will decide whether their p;olicy will be rewarded or penalised.I started it on the grounds like I particularly dislike politics/beliefs being brought into company policy.
I am confused by the responses saying that if you don’t work for said company then you shouldn’t be concerned about it. That is basically the same as saying you shouldn’t be concerned about the existence of racism if you’re not black or the existence of homophobia if you’re not gay.
You are allowed to be concerned and have opinions on things that don’t necessarily affect you directly, one day they might.

Being a meat eater isn't a protected characteristic. You are allowed to be concerned and have opinions on things that don’t necessarily affect you directly, one day they might.
I love a good steak as much as the next guy but I wouldn’t really care too much. If my employer is paying for my food then I’d eat whatever they’re prepared to pay for or put my hand in my pocket if I really fancied something with meat in it just as if I want more than a glass of wine I have to pay for it. I think it’s a bit of a daft policy just trying to grab a free bit of publicity but that’s the employers prerogative. I’m not sure how well it would work in practice anyway given that a lot of receipts won’t specify the actual food just say ‘pizza’ for example.

Exactly, someone else wants to pay for my food? Then they can decide what it is, otherwise I'll purchase it myself!Countdown said:

The deal should be if the employer expects the employee to work away then the employer recognises the extra costs incurred in eating out and pays for that. Beyond that point they back the fk off.
Now if they offered financial incentive to employees to eat vegetarian, in terms of EXTRA payment for making that choice then that may be better.
