I think 'the left' have really set themselves up here, not necessarily because they have now overtaken the right in terms of hatred but as supposed bastions of tolerance they have now exposed themselves with repeated hysterical reactions to the mere presence of their political opponents.
Such slogans as F*** the Tories/ Never kissed a Tory/ B***cks to Brexit/ F**** Boris, being in the lexicon of many a moderate Labour voter tells me that such vitriol is intrinsic to their ethos. Not to detract from right wing sentiment against people of colour for example, but 'the left' make a living out for smearing as widely as possible these accusations of hate, while preaching death to someone from the wrong party.
Agreed, but I can’t help but think the leadership have tolerated this behavior. The search for ideological purity in the Labour Party leadership contest is pretty unattractive. Over that is layered this incredible level of identity politics, which almost no voters care less about. Voters are in favor of equality. That should probably cover everything.
The Milllie Tant brigade and very small but very loud SJW’s that Labour are attracting as a core group are NEVER going to get ethe Labour Party re elected to form a Government. Given their total inability to understand what just happened in the last election, its clear they aren’t able to learn, or to contemplate seeing politics once again as ‘the art of the possible’
However, when push comes to shove, or rather pen to ballot paper, they will lose every time.
Presently, for anyone who wishes to see an effective opposition, this is a significant problem.

I recall Angela Eagle having her windows bricked for standing against Corbyn which was then deemed a 'false flag' to discredit him. I would certainly like to see such lunacy officially condemned on both sides but how do you undermine what is effectively the essence of your cult?Voters are in favor of equality. That should probably cover everything.

Ok so it's the Speccy, so what, doesn't alter what's going on.
Just as it doesn't excuse the pile ons aimed at Diane Abbott etc in the other direction.
There is something seriously wrong with behaviour on social media. I've been rather impressed with the way Laurence Fox has handled the storm since his QT appearance. Seemingly taking it in his stride and taking the piss back and handing it out in spades. Even he is taking a break as it's got too much and is now seriously interfering with his ability to provide for his family. Hopefully he will be back to take the piss again soon.
I think we'll see a lot of this kind of thing from anyone that opposes this government, for whatever reason.
We have a government that seems to be more diverse, ethnically and socially, so more representative.
We have a popular PM.
We have witnessed the breakdown, to some extent of the Labour North, with the Tories gaining ground there.
That lack of diversity and representation has long been a stick that Labour have beaten their own drum with and have hit the Tories with.
That stick is slightly broken.
Now we have a young, Asian, Southern born and raised, Yorkshire constituency-representing tory MP posting something about (making it look like he's) making cuppas for the team and using a Northern British owned and manufactured brand of tea (from a company that's actually from a heavily Tory and Lib constituency mind).
I think it's mega contrived really (the gov social media post) but it's a good look and the opposition think they need to do everything they can to break that. I think the opposition will come out of this looking desparate though.

Some time prior to QT he displayed that by wearing a Trump cap as a social experiment to see the difference in reactions between people in working class and affluent areas. But similarly Lily Allen can focus her empathy towards migrants without too much impact on her career, while Dave and Stormzy can target the Conservatives in trite on liners during their performances and actually gain support from those who broadly express the same sentiment.
Abbott has portrayed herself in a certain light but Thornberry is a vile snob who should face much more opposition. It may however be a sad truth that the person of colour may end up being the easy target but equally that Labour could intentionally place her in that position.

As said elsewhere, all this Twitter outrage does is make me want to buy Yorkshire Tea to show them not everyone is mental.
Tea and sympathy, I guess.
You're all Tory scum.Tea and sympathy, I guess.
It took me actually typing that out to fully appreciate how extremist that is, while being a sentiment commonly expressed in those precise terms by the left.
