Ahh,..The George. Not keen on my local one, The Walnut Tree in Leytonstone.
I cut my drinking teeth so to speak in there in the early 80's with an old mate I worked with, regularly done our wages by sunday but always pre bought a red bus rover(remember them?) so I could get to work the next week, well before it was a spoons.along with the nightingale and british queen(now gone).
Had a lovely evening in the pub, very nice to have some Guinness again, all went off without a hitch for us, table in the beer garden, order on the app, it gets brought to you
Had a chat with the LL as he popped out to say hi, said it had gone really well, good behaviour from the majority we didn't see any bother

Happy day’s in a great little spot.
Used to venture across to the Hitchcock on Whipps Cross Road and frequented the Three Blackbirds in Leyton High Rd which had great live music ( and was full of nurses) as well as the Plough and Harrow ( again full of nurses )

The Three Black Birds used to have a great Pink Floyd tribute band play there, can't remember their name.
The live music on a Saturday night was brilliant.

Small world, I was born in Wanstead hospital and lived in Woodbury close and then Wellington road until I moved out of the family home to Leytonstone in the early 90s. Remember the Blackbirds aswell although the Heathcote on grove green rd was my local.Hearing all those pub names is great, spent many happy times in them and loved the Vietnamese next to the George ..
