It is a strange one.
I'm considering wearing some particularly short shorts next time I go out, to try and tease out one of my testes (probably the left, as that's the low-hanger). Just the bottom 7mm of it maybe so I'm not giving away too much of the mystery.

Shudder.
I went down my local yesterday (I am suffering a massive hangover this morning). They've set up a marquee round the back which is a good idea - especially as it was alternately sunny or absolutely hammering down all afternoon. It also went really cold and Mrs DS had to bring me a coat - she actually brought me a choice of coats so I ended up wearing both. When I arrived there it was t-shirt temperature, so not sure what happened there.
The landlord also made the mistake of having an Amazon echo thing up in the top of the marquee rafters playing music. He now has ten boxes of Durex coming (the fact that they were from his previous purchase history caused much hilarity) and a Beko dishwasher in black. I may now be barred.

Went for a walk on Saturday afternoon around Kingston and Surbiton, and of the pubs that were open none of them seemed as busy as I thought they would be. Those of you that went out on Saturday night, how busy were the pubs in reality?
I walked past The Antelope in Surbiton before it officially reopened and it was doing a very healthy take-away business with loads of people standing outside drinking on Maple Road. I can’t see how they’d be doing nearly that much business inside the pub now it has reopened. In Kingston, more people just seem to sit by Eagle Wharf getting pissed on their own cheap booze than going to pubs.
We went down with partner and daughter to see a friend in Brighton yesterday, having pre-booked a table in Brewdog.
Picked specifically as I was getting frustrated by small pubs with hopeless booking systems or no mention of weather they were even open or not!
Anyway, easy to book a table, shown to our reserved table on arrival. Could order food/drink on app or normally. It was quiet and they said it wasn't busy on Saturday night either. Also, perhaps half the pubs in Brighton weren't open.
Just nice to sit and have a few beers in a relatively normal atmosphere.

I think the test for pubs will be over the next couple of months when the novelty wears off and we start to move towards Autumn.
Based on this weekend locally the pubs are all reverting to form
The 2 nicer locals were absolutely fine and nice evenings had by us and our mates
The Wetherspoons was fairly busy with the usual all dayers in there but no trouble
The 2 dodgy pubs were a nightmare
Hopefully the police/licensing will act on a case by case basis rather than blanket bans

Yes, I noticed the Antelope had opened a while ago, I found it very strange that people were prepared to literally stand around in the street drinking.
Quite a few pubs were doing this before 4th July although not that many locally.I think there will be some pressure from the pubs to allow it to continue as they must be making more money that way than at reduced capacity inside. I guess it will depend on local restrictions as to what will be allowed.
As you say, it will change in the autumn when less people are likely to want to stand outside all night.

They said ASAP but I haven't heard a peep about it since tbh.
To those doubting the Daily Mail pictures.
I live in Soho. They closed D'Arblay Street, Old Compton Street, Dean Street, Frith Street and Greek Street to traffic as of midday Saturday. That is a huge chunk of Soho. That allowed bars and restaurants to put tables outside on the road and lots of revelers to stand on the street and drink.
It was absolutely heaving on Saturday night, it felt like the Notting Hill carnival just in a smaller area. Hundreds and hundreds of people sharing bottles, hugging each other, not wearing masks etc.
The council will close those streets off every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the foreseeable future.
I know I'm more bearish than most here, but that can't be good for avoiding "second waves"...

Sounds perfect to me. Not many inter generational families in Soho I wouldn't think.I live in Soho. It would be more useful if they all got it, if they haven't had it already.

They suggested in May that 17% of London had already had coronavirus, if that's true its probably higher now. I'd be inclined to agree that the group out on Saturday night, and those who had already had it have a substantial overlap. It would be more useful if they all got it, if they haven't had it already.
