I'm sure you're riveting...you can always tell the troll on PH, personal attack and no garage.

What big man you are, such a shame but then again that's the internet full of odd little men....

That's it confirmed then. Yes, you definitely should stay indoors. Very angry little man.

Whats the big problem with people saying they won't wear a mask? they aren't saying they won't wear a mask but will continue to visit the shops and infect everyone, they are simply saying they won't wear a mask and therefore won't go to the shops.

Surely if they stay at home and order stuff of Amazon instead then that is 100% effective in stopping the transmission of the virus in the shops which is what the scared people seem to want. Last time I looked it wasn't compulsory to spunk your money away in the local high street, people do have a choice. Its the same as Boris "ordering" everyone to get back to the office, why on earth would anyone even give a second thought to Costa or WH smiths having to shut due to no office workers buying anything if they are now more comfortable working from home, they do what is best for them not some none descript retail chain.

Why would it? We have knocked down cases very sharply from late march without wearing masks. With most shops reopening for weeks without the imposition of masks, the ONS surveys have shown cases still continuing to drop throughout.

If there is good evidence of tranmission in retail shops, supermarkets and transport then it might be justifiable to impose mask wearing. That quite clearly has not been the case.

France and Spain both reported more cases than us yesterday, has it got things done more quickly there?

Exactly.

Sadly it’s become political for the usual crowd, except they are having to invent the other sides argument to fit their narrative.

Conclusion: high streets will be devastated & doomed if masks are made compulsory. I'm guessing Rishi & his mates in the treasury are well aware of this.

I think that's perfectly fair and is a distinction that perhaps doesn't always come through in what people post.

And thats where I am, I'm not going to the shops because I don't want to endure the restrictions. I've gone from being at a pub most evenings to visiting once, didn't like it so haven't been back, not likely to either.

The other thing is how do they unwind this social distancing/ face wearing? It will become the new normal forever because people will be too scared that there will be another "wave" if people stop wearing them.

That’s your conclusion, as you obviously are against wearing a mask, and because you don’t want to wear one, you extrapolate the situation to one of devastation and doom for the High Street.
News flash! Not everyone shares your outlook.
I’m not a lover of masks, I feel like a lost bank robber when I wear one, but if I feel like buying a new shirt, I’ll put the mask on, stroll into Selfridges, take the escalator to the 2nd or 3rd. floor, choose a shirt, then go down to the ground floor, buy a sourdough loaf, and go home to enjoy my purchases.
Neither Oxford Street, nor More London SE1 will go to the wall while I’ve got a debit card in my wallet.

The average lemming would no doubt agree with you.
We've been wearing facemasks and using alcohol hand-wash in hk for almost the whole year, consequently there are very few if any covid cases here and there was hardly any lock down needed.
Correlation does not equal causation
Well something is being handled differently here than over there.

Lots of masks in Tesco today. (me too), More than there has been for ages. I think folks are slowly getting the message.

All lovely places I'm sure, but little relevance to my local store. I'm hoping very soon to see a lot more.

You must be absolutely minted to be able to say Oxford Street will keep going on your spending habits alone! Fair play to you!

What message? its just the media screamers that are trying to make not wearing a mask as anti social as drink driving. I'll bet passive smoking kills more people than those who catch corona in a confined space yet you never hear the mad women on twitter trying to ban smoking and I would imagine the reason is that the type of people who spend all day on twitter screaming their fanny off are the same people who are addicted to 40 B&H a day.

Can you share areas you’ve been. There might be a different demographic who naturally oppose rules (for whatever reason)

I’m not so sure. I suspect the committed ‘anti-maskers’ are in a minority, despite being vocal on here.

This is aimed at giving confidence to those who are scared to shop because ‘the virus is everywhere.’
I suspect the majority of the rest of the population will simply shrug their shoulders and wear one for the easy life.

This is the one and only positive hehe

Though I did read somewhere that China was working on or had developed a system that could work with masks, so the reprieve may be temporary.
