Lockdown Imminent

You could consider it a strong possibility now else why are they taking these stupid measures when the virus is at such a low level. Perhaps because they already know you can catch it again.
If that was true then it would be all over the news with multiple peer reviewed scientific papers to back it up.Stay in Bed Instead said:

You don't know either of those things though, not for certain.

When the first person anywhere in the world is discovered having contracted it a second time, I will consider that a possibility.https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/12/immu...
ETA
The report suggests that immunity starts to decline after 3 months. So we may still be waiting for reinfections to appear.

My concern with the masks is it being not so much the thin end of a civil liberties issue as being the medium thickness middle of even the most minor issues being turned into them-and-us tribalism with ridiculously histrionic, divisive proclamations from both sides of the argument.
The government seem to only be adding fuel to the fire flip-flopping around between mixed signals without ever making a firm proclamation one way or the other.
FWIW I have a couple in the car, I started popping one on when I go to the shops around the time this kicked off in the US (where the "give me an unfettered chin or give me death" / "without your nose fabric you're a MURDERER" thing has reached inexplicable levels of stupidity). If it actually does something useful or at least helps a few people feel safer that's great, and if not it's no big hassle. However by the same token I didn't wear one for most of the pandemic and didn't really worry too much, so I don't see someone without one as cause to fly into a moral panic. If there's something to get upset about I'd rather people paid attention to hygiene and general cleanliness first. Like many I felt a little uneasy early on seeing people out and about in masks, but as with most things it's become more familiar over time.

If people want to wear a mask thats fine, i cant catch it off them they cant catch it off me.
I will not be wearing one just because its mandated by fear. or because bojo says we should.
Walking round with a pair of frigging underpants on your face....ffs!
2020 really was the year that morons finally came out the closet and took over the world.

Some would think they are being asked to pour boiling water over themselves or stab their hands, FFS it’s wearing a mask.
Granted it’s not ideal but is it really that big of a deal to wear a mask for the short period you are in a shop.
No one wants this to continue longer than required, but surely with everyone trying to do their bit in what is an unknown it will help us all get out the other side quicker.

Just imagine the future? 'She's nice, look at those fantastic eyes! Wonder what her face looks like?'
'Fancy him, wonder what he really looks like?'
Muzzles? You can wear 'em. Just don't force me to.
Masks are an excellent idea. Especially for us ugly buggers. We might now stand a chance, and exchange a sort of a glance, across a crowded room.>>>>>>>:'Fancy him, wonder what he really looks like?'

A simple experiment would sort this. 2 identical supermarkets, 1 mandated masks, queues, arrows and sanitiser and the other not. See which gets the most customers, thats the will of the public.
Its like this every week for me. Local Tesco, queue to get in (not long but its there) arrows on the floor and a one way system, then queues and someone telling me when i can go to the tills. Then I go to the local Lidl, no queues, no arrows no one way system, and just queue for which ever till i want. They both have the same sort of numbers of customers. Lidl is far nicer though, and Tesco's would be off my list of places to visit if I could get everything I want in Lidl.

If it made any discernible difference why weren't we asked to wear them as soon as the lockdown restrictions were relaxed?Granted it’s not ideal but is it really that big of a deal to wear a mask for the short period you are in a shop.

It won't work.
Mandatory masks will make people more scared not less.

Agreed, TBH I have no issues with masks but I just have 0 desire to go out and spend money on the high street buying crap I don't need anymore. It won't work.

I agree. As someone who is materially worse off because of CV19 and the government response to it, the 'get out and do your bit' message doesn't resonate with me at all.I don't see a massive amount of long-term value in saving retail establishments that were about to go under pre CV-19 anyway or prolonging the suffering of a lot of restaurants and pubs that won't be able to make a profit until the current guidelines are scrapped.
