Totally agree. Next dating sites will be banning photos of members not wearing a mask, must educate the public on staying safe.

I don't know why that clown Boris doesn't issue a blanket order to shut all shops with immediate effect, permanently. It's no biggie you can do everything online now. Shop front windows could be plastered over with pictures of pretty landscapes, and Pubs could be turned into museums. High streets could be re-purposed as .... pedestrian walking zones? ...with f all to see or do.

At the point of almost past caring now. Like someone else said. might as well sit back and watch it burn.

I’m getting to this point now.

Just give the screaming media generation what they’ve asked for.

Ban shopping (food delivered by amazon or similar), close all retail and leisure.
Ban leaving home for any reason.
Everyone must work from home
Create non jobs for those whose businesses fold as a result.
Stop all other medical procedures and repurpose hospitals for covid only treatment even if they stay empty for years.

We can then simply wait for death from other causes and expire with a smile knowing at least it wasn’t covid.
Bloody hell the state of this hehe

Granted it’s not ideal but is it really that big of a deal to wear a mask for the short period you are in a shop
The danger is that they will extend it to when walking in busy streets, when you are out jogging or cycling, and to Pubs and Restaurants. To cover all possibilities might as well make mask wearing mandatory as soon as you step outside your front door.

No one wants this to continue longer than required, but surely with everyone trying to do their bit in what is an unknown it will help us all get out the other side quicker
The problem is these things stick and the 'other side' will be worse than it is now.
Unless you're filling up with petrol! No masks allowed then.

Paranoia is starting to set in for some, never mind the masks, tin foil is going to be the new must-have fashion accessory, and far more prevalent

Does anyone think masks will become mandatory in public buildings?
Looks like a done deal then.

I didn't know guidance could be punishable by a fine?

It isn't look at the words "Should or might not must" hence guidance and it is the BBC so irrelevant information.

Follow it if you want.

If it becomes law who pays for the mask?

Perhaps that’s your take Allan, but the BBC link says it will be mandatory, with a £100 fine for non compliance, so I’ll be wearing one if I go into a shop, in fact I do already.
I already wear one on public transport in London, where I live, it’s no big deal, the world won’t come to an end, just wash them regularly, and change the filters.
Maybe big tough men nudge one another, point at me, and mutter “Wimp”, like I’d care.

Frank 7 I do not live in London but accept that you do and need protecting. But the article said this so guidance not law.

While shop workers will be encouraged to prompt customers to comply, they will not be expected to enforce the rules, allaying unions' concerns about their involvement.

If it was law then it would be a different statement and even this week it will not change.

What other law do shop workers enforce?

This bit suggests it is law...

The rules will be enforced by the police, with anyone disregarding them at risk of a fine of up to £100. This will be reduced to £50 if people pay within 14 days.

Surely you’re on a wind-up, if you buy a car, the dealer will expect you to show proof of insurance before you drive it away, as insurance is a legal requirement, who do you think pays for that?

I must have bought 10 cars over the last 30 years and not once have I been asked to show I had insurance to drive the car. Why would they ? They are not responsible for me complying with the law

You live in Yorkshire and Frank 7 lives in London so you have police we on the other hand do not. I have not seen a cop for about 2 years.

So tell me again how it will be enforced?

I bought a box of 25 masks on line, they came with a whole slew of filters, which go into two pocket like inserts inside the mask, I change the filters around every 10 days.

I remember when I bought my wife a brand new Peugeot 3 years ago, the sales manager asked to see proof of her insurance, I copied this below from a Motoring Site.

Do You Need Proof Of Insurance To Buy A Car?
Yes. In most cases, even if you don’t have a specific vehicle in mind, you do need proof of insurance to buy a car. Take a look at your car insurance options before you start shopping for cars so your policy can start the same day you drive home from the dealership.

Buying A New Car When You Already Have Insurance
If you already have an existing car insurance policy, you might be wondering if you need proof of insurance to buy a car on top of the coverage you already have. It depends. If you are buying a brand new car to add onto your existing policy, your policy might include a grace period that gives you temporary coverage for a week, sometimes more.

During that grace period, it’s expected that you tell your car insurance company about the new car so a representative can officially add it to your policy without you experiencing a lapse in coverage. In some cases, if you already have a car insurance policy, the liability limits you have on that policy will temporarily extend to the new car that you are driving.

Even if you’re buying a new car to take the place of an older one, you must tell your car insurance company about the switch during this grace period. You can’t just make the switch yourself, because then you will be driving around in an uninsured vehicle – which is illegal and can carry serious legal penalties.

Your point (as quoted above) was that it was guidance not law. That is clearly incorrect, as the police will be enforcing the law.

I have no idea where you are which doesn't have police, but a lack of police doesn't change the fact it will be a legal requirement. Do you ignore every other law simply because there is nobody around to police it?
