supermarket update is that local sainsbury's is now almost fully restocked with some exceptions. toilet roll in abundance. I had to queue for an hour to get in mind, from 8am. the new holy grail is now tinned tomatoes, after a while of not seeing one, i felt like indiana jones lifting up one of the last cans.

the priority deliveries to over 70s have been working fine for my parents using click and deliver.

So, in what percentage of these deaths is the virus which they are infected with actually an operating cause of the death and how "substantial" is it? Without knowing that then any figures as to deaths are completely and utterly meaningless, surely?

You raise a very pertinent point

I was discussing this with my wife ( a nurse ) this morning and it’s rather fascinating

If CV19 is just accelerating deaths amongst people who were going to die imminently anyway it’s one thing

If CV19 is killing lots of otherwise healthy people with no other conditions it’s very different

My discussion this morning got us nowhere really because really as you are saying it’s totally meaningless “deaths with CV19” is way too blunt.
Yes and no I think. It's clear that covid19 is killing enough extra people to have the capability to overload the health system - see Lombardy and previously Wuhan. How substantial it is in the numbers of people being recorded as dying is always going to be hard to record but if it wasn't present it's probably fair to say quite a good number of deaths won't be happening either.

Just back from my weekly 10 mile bike ride...my local car park and wood had over 20 cars in it owned by dog walkers and ‘exercisers’. Its Holly Lane car park Banstead Woods, Surrey if anyone is interested.

I approached two couples in their 20’s that were together and getting back into a car after their walk and asked them what they were doing? They needed the car to get to the wood....after trying to explain to them that they were being selfish and ignorant I ended I’ll calling them s and the big guy decided he wanted a piece of me! Obviously if i wasn't worried about catching c19 off him I’d have knocked his block off. I decided to make a sharpish retreat....I haven’t had a fight since I was 11!

Strange times eh?

We don't know that though. We literally don't because no one has produced a single stat or made a single comment about any death to demonstrate that. All we have heard is essentially, "X many people died today with Covid-19". That means absolutely sod all. Eighty percent of them will have died "with the cold sore virus" too but it's meaningless.

Landon Spradlin, a Virginia pastor who claimed the “mass hysteria” around the coronavirus pandemic was part of a media plot against Trump, has died from the virus.

Seems like the big supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda) all have big queues to get in, but none at all at the Aldi and Lidl here.

We are banned from going more than 2km from the house for any other than essential purposes

What was it that upset you?

The distance they travelled, the mode of transport, or the fact it was two couples (it is of course possible they all live together although I accept unlikely).

Is a 10 mile cycle an essential journey?

P.s. I would support you in it being essential personally if that’s what you do normally, though I suspect some others would not, they’d tell you to “STAY AT HOME”.

One other consideration ... who do you think was more likely during travelling to pick up the virus from airborne particles ... you on your cycle or them in their car?

Not having a dig at anyone, just offering points for debate.

Not had any problems getting anything I'd usually get from a supermarket - and friends report much the same.

But, in a serious post why was it ok for you to be in that car park and not the people who had parked cars in it ?

It’s not any over 70 though, only if in the vulnerable list.. My 79 year old mum can’t get a look in. She’s especially mad as they took her £20 a quarter delivery fee yesterday too! She’s binning them asap. The home delivery services have badly let us all down

Yes. However it was sorted within a few hours.
