Gotta say, I'm loving the frothing today - some people are way too emotionally invested in the outcome.

And as an aside, does anyone else think that photoshop of Farage above make him look like Warwick Davis?
Do you think such a suggestion is in any way Tenable?

Yes, it does (look like WD)

My immediate reaction was Farage is irrelevant so why've they now brought Warwick Davis into it.

Agree the increase in the level of utter b-s frothing is rather amusing. As always predicted it would get worse as got nearer to the date.

We only got to wait two and a half months for this fiasco of 'negotiations' to finally end.

After four years of watching all the hand wringing i think we can wait that long smile

Hehe, that's probably why you've posted 1.226 messages in this part of the forum alone.

Because you're not "emotionally invested".

The people who really aren't emotionally invested is the rest of Europe. Nobody cares, the news is all Covid related.

Currently I even wonder why the EU even negotiates with those high maintenance folks at the other side of the North Sea.

Maybe because it is the 6th largest economy? Or maybe because they like the colour of Boris's hair?

I'd say let the former (for some emotionally current; Brexiteers?) empire fall back to WTO. They've won the war, invented football, golf and the rest yada yada. Just nod, let them have it.

Trade will continue, plus we're already experiencing an economic shock bigger than Brexit would ever generate.

So negotiate later, who cares about a couple of lorry's at Calais. It's better than those food stamps at Dover.

Because they think everyone else is stupid and they are morally superior. Posting in here suggests the total opposite.

At best he was a protest vote, and arguably once the EC went for the cash grab; our membership days were numbered. Only the Silly Billys think he's still relevent.

For our shortbus members, and those posting Warwick Davis images, no one has been duped by his return to Financial Services. And judged on his advert, would expect him to fall fail of the regulators very quickly. Its difficult to get duped by something that hasn't happened or likely will.

Anyhoo, he's a distraction sweet FA to do with the negotiations (something our living in the past members prove with abandon).

For those actually looking at the negotiations, the leaks and documents from both sides suggest both are more invested in Not Losing Face first than an actual deal.

Market sentiment (Goldmans, FTSE250 etc), still says some form of deal will be done.

Keep up:

This evening the Prime Minister spoke with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission and Charles Michel, President of the European Council.

The leaders discussed the latest state of play of the negotiations on our future relationship with the EU, ahead of the October European Council.

The Prime Minister noted the desirability of a deal, but expressed his disappointment that more progress had not been made over the past two weeks.

The Prime Minister said that he looked forward to hearing the outcome of the European Council and would reflect before setting out the UK’s next steps in the light of his statement of 7 September.

I'd be quite surprised if anything happens today. The Council will meet. They'll make some statement about needing this that and the other. We'll say we have to consider our options...

Tomorrow we might get some more clarity, but it's just as likely to be an schedule to discuss a little bit more.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe we'll see either an agreement, or an exit today.

I'm fascinated by the politics. The outcome of these negotiations will directly affect me and my family. I'm interested... but I didn't ask for this.

However, I'm not the one coming onto a foreign forum to regularly tell them that they don't matter to me, and that I don't care. rofl
