He needs get cutting out the cancer whilst in opposition.

Theres very little politics right now, Brexit is almost done, it is what it is, Covid isnt controlled by politics
Its a perfect time to get hacking, reforming and prepare for the next election. Decision, strong leadership, get rid of momentum, head for centre left, give the electorate a viable alternative.

Here is a phot of Corbyn at a meeting with the board of British Deputies. If that’s not the body language of determination then I don’t know what is.

Car-crash Press Conference for Starmer.

Looked like a rabbit in the headlights for most of it.

When asked about the specific actions he would take he resorted to waffle and simply ignoring the question.

Who would trust him or the Labour party in the near future?
People keep claiming Starmer is the future of politics - he's had just about a year to get ready for this report, and this is the response?

Has he confirmed when he plans to take the knee?

If and when he takes it, let's hope he puts it back wink

There's form on his side of the House.

Can you imagine what the reaction would be if this was the Tories, UNLAWFUL scattered over page after page, calls for the leader to GO NOW. I cannot imagine why this is not the case. It just shows up the utter hypocrisy of those people who claim it is not political but about common decency.

Anyway I wonder what Sir Keir is going to do in the 6 weeks he has to respond to the EHRC findings. I can hardly believe it has come as a surprise to him

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-54730425

3 breaches of the equality act

Political interference in anti-Semitism complaints
Failure to provide adequate training to those handling anti-Semitism complaints
Harassment

And shamefully, Labour managed to act fast against sexual harassment during this time proving they were capable of acting decisively when they had the will to do so
He’s got do act fast and decisively over this, what can he actually do though other than condemn what’s happened and make sure they have robust complaints processes in place?

If there are complaints about specific people being anti Semitic then they ought to be dealt with obviously.

Saying Corbyn wasn’t actually named in the report seems a stretch though as his office is criticised and he’s in charge of it. As leader he’s responsible for setting the tone and leading by example and dealing with complaints properly is part of that.

"The equality body's analysis points to a culture within the party which, at best, did not do enough to prevent anti-Semitism and, at worst, could be seen to accept it."

Just as it Starmer’s job as leader now to deal with this properly.

To me most of the blame lies on Corbyn’s door due to his inaction. He might not be anti Semitic but he hasn’t dealt with complaints of it.

What happened to Berger is disgraceful.

Why should the current leader “go now”? These judgements are pretty much levelled at the previous leadership (mostly) now confined to the backbenches. I don’t even see that (most of) the previous shadow cabinet was particularly culpable. Perhaps they were not singing from the rooftops about it, and could have said more, but essentially it was Corbyn and his inner circle who are responsible for this.

I’m sure that those who previously defended him will be suitably contrite now.

Tories have had two female PMs / leaders. Ok, it’s two more than Labour, but it’s not exactly a groundbreaking difference ...
First female leader of a western nation (i think?) and 40 years later Labour have only had a woman in as caretaker in opposition for a few months? I'm not that fussed to be honest but the fact is my 7 year old daughter is now growing up in a world where female PM's are not unusual, ironically no thanks to the party that has positioned itself as the social justice or whatever it's called today party.

Quite right too.

It has plagued the opposition and made them unpalatable and therefore unelectable and therefore ineffective in their role for too long.

Great news.

Corbyn didn’t deal with the problem when he was in charge.

Then refused to accept responsibility after today’s findings

Sling him out.

This will really help Sir Keir - surely he now has the moral authority to remove Momentum from the party?
