Had an advert on Facebook last night from Labour - a video of a nurse about why the 1% pay increase is so bad.

Just desperate, emotionally manipulative stuff. I thought Starmer would be better than Corbyn for this sort of stuff, but obviously not.
Notice how it's always referred to as Nurse's pay, when it's actually the whole NHS.
100%
But try and explain that in a statement that can be tweeted. Or argued on social media. You'd just get tied in knots.
Sadly, targeting extra money for the staff that actually were on the front line is impossible in an organisation the size of the NHS.
Which is a shame because I do think many of them did really step up.

If your feeling brave you could reply that the 1% is the band uplift for the year and that nurses will also receive an annual incremental pay increases within their banding and so will be receiving much more than 1%

Like I said ..If your feeling bravebiggrin
Not all staff get an annual increment, and it isn't automatic. All training has to be up to date, and once you reach the maximum pay band within that grade, that's it.

My Mrs is a Staff Nurse, whilst she's not exactly happy about the amount, but she understands why and says she'd feel bad if they'd been given more.

Yep, similar with the people I know, although, none of them would feel bad if they had more hehe But they are grateful for a job and despise the politicisation of the NHS. All the normal ones hate the clapping etc.

Starmer really should be using his expertise and knowledge of the legal system working out how to demolish Boris/Hancock on the things they actually have got wrong, starting with legality of all the VIP Lane contracts stuff and Hancock's deals for his pub landlord etc.

I hope that is quietly going on behind closed doors, but I won't hold my breathe.

Hadn't even heard of this.

Hartlepool Labour MP Mike Hill quits, triggering red wall byelection

Interesting to see what happens.

As ever with labour, there is more to the story

https://order-order.com/2020/03/02/hartlepool-mp-h...

Sexual harassment, readmitted to the party, and now the time for his tribunal is approaching, he decides to step aside. Stay classy, labour...

Where do you start if you're Starmer.

Labour MP Nadia Whittome REFUSES to condemn protesters over night of violence in Bristol that left 20 officers injured and a police station trashed

When your MPs can't even say that setting fire to Police vans is wrong confused
