Basically, don't be a male security guard. If you want to reduce the risk to yourself, become a female nurse.

Walking through a high street for firstl time in a while.

Queues outside most of the banks
There have been queues outside banks all the time since they restricted opening hours, and numbers allowed in.

The whole thing seems odd. We are, slowly, unwinding the lockdown but have decided now is the time to increase travel restrictions at airports. Makes little sense. Also given that summer is coming up I know where I'd rather go on holiday and it isn't the UK.
There is no point in restricting visitors to the country when they are less likely to be infected than residents. Once we have transmission within the country under control it becomes worthwhile to stop people bringing it in from overseas.
Yep. The quarantine thing is just dumb given the overall level of cases here now and is made worse by the specific exemption of travel from France/Ireland. Maybe 'the science' says travelling through CDG cures people of covid19.....

Nurses and doctors in icu, they're among the safest according to research linked on PH not long ago.

Other jobs are even less risky, like essential hehe journalists holding the government to account hehe who speak as though they don't know what 2 metres looks like, either thick as mince or champagne socialists who don't visit supermarkets on a personal basis. Safe!

Interesting, but how many of those deaths in low skilled workers can be attributed to higher numbers of BAME working in those sectors?

Also interesting that health workers in general are no worse affected than the general population.

Interesting reading. I suppose it's obvious why there's a higher rate of death amongst bus and taxi drivers but why chefs?

Agreed, interesting.

Question prompted by the aboive:

As a total or (better) percentage of each group, how many icu workers have died, how many journalists, and how many members of the public?

No such thing as zero risk in the real world, unreal worlds can be found.

How do you feel Raab's announcement that people can "use common sense to see loved ones outdoors" will be handled by the unwashed masses?

Umm. Think you missed a point there.

Sometime around now is the right time to re-implement quarantine. Our transmission rate is now under control (e.g. less than 1), so it makes sense to restrict other cases coming in, as over time those will become the biggest source of infection, rather than our own population.

Gender bias in the professions? And a lot of bus/taxi drivers will be older and have a sedentary lifestyle so risk factors are up.

The second article is an important development and it clearly needed highlighting.

I hope the person involved doesn't fart though, that would be no yolk.

I suspect Chefs are higher than those because kitchens are not designed to be 2 meters away from each other. Plus, a lot of "chefs" will be small operations, failing at social distancing, and coming into contact with the customers. (Think Burger van)

The data set is also pretty small.

Surprising ....

Healthcare workers, including those with jobs such as doctors and nurses, were not found to have higher rates of death involving COVID-19 when compared with the rate among those whose death involved COVID-19 of the same age and sex in the general population.

I would say young people seem more likely to disregard the rules.

In: Outdoor sex on Hampstead Heath / Clapham Common which does not require mouth-to-mouth contact.
Out: Indoor sex parties sharing £20 notes.

Our transmission rate might be under 1 but it's still broadly at a relatively high base level of cases which is still circulating around, certainly compared to most of our EU neighbours.. it's not as if we have daily cases in the tens when there might be a reasonable argument for quarantine. And specifically exempting people from france just makes a mockery of the whole thing anyway.

I only have limited data to go on but the local skatepark seems to support your viewpoint.

That said late 20's males that look a bit "chav" seem to be the ones happily meeting up on the street for a chat a can of something together.

But then it's the older 40-something neighbours that are the ones inviting random people round.

Personally I think it's just "people" disregarding the rules, the same ones that don't generally give much thought to how their actions impact others. The knob heads of society.

Do you think the so called unwashed masses have been following the rules anyway?

And who cares, the only reason I can see is if you are daft enough to think that we can keep this virus under control and still have a function economy. The soon we realize it's not going to happen the better.
