I have yet to see anything but Cain leaving confirmed. Bearing in mind how low the general publics view of the media is at the moment if the Cummings stories are shown to be bks it will be further damaged. The whole thing seems to be based on him coming out of No 10 with a box. That the BBC are reporting it as fact without a formal press release is staggering.
He's gone, get over it. He might not officially leave his position until next month. But he is no longer.

What a glorious day it was yesterday, so much positive news, unfortunately just too little too late. I do hope the Tory Boys don't shed too many tears into their cornflakes for him, it was obvious to everyone with a brain cell what a calamity he was.

Interesting even Alastair Campbell never got booted so quickly after getting the hot seat.

I think Cummings has learnt the lesson of history. Winning a campaign is much easier than governing.

As per the GE - with the stuff outstanding, there is no "leave/remain" axis.

There's those that support us specifically choosing to permit a foreign power to overrule us with zero input from us, and those that do not.

Ask that question - and I think we can safely put that the people in support of option 2 is a majority.
Depressing that four years after the Brexit vote and so much being talked about Brexit and such a fundamental misrepresentation about EU membership is written as if the gospel truth. I suppose with 70 million having just voted for Trump, candidate for one of the worst human beings on the planet if not the most unsuitable person to be president then I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised.
I am not talking about EU membership...

I'm talking about the contentious issues outstanding in the FTA negotiations.
Yep Sway

You were clearly referring to the BRINO crowd who want us to remain subject to the EU even after we have left as some sort of "consolation" for having to leave their precious EU.

As for Cummings too soon to judge how this will effect the government, but all the briefings are that this will lead to a more soft left government and a betrayal of those who turned out to vote Conservative in December.

We will see how things turn out, but Farage is waiting in the wings and if there is a betrayal then he can rightly consign the Tories to oblivion.

Is that what you deduced from my post, how strange. Once he is gone you and the press will need a new unelected bogeyperson to hate, rail against and blame. My guess is it will be Carrie Symonds as the groundwork has already been laid.

She won’t.

Quite likely but not because she’s an unelected advisor, everyone knows Boris can’t make decisions on his own.

it will be the same reactionaries blaming Carrie for stealing their Boris as those who blame Meghan for stealing their Harry.

At least with Carrie as Chief decision maker, there might be a less abrasive atmosphere in Westminster and government might start functioning again.

Obviously having her in charge isn’t ideal but can it get much worse than it has been?

Reading up on her she’s heavily involved in solving the “gigantic climate crisis” and a charity promoting wind farms so expect even more of this from Boris.

Cummings & co could have been useful in “normal’ times, Johnson will have blamed them for the disasterous Brexit & the other abject failures of his Tory government.

However Cummings must have so much dirt on Johnson, it’s unlikely ..

Perhaps just more bks, by the looks of it.

"Robert Peston
@Peston
Sorry to spoil your enjoyment but I am told this encounter between
@BorisJohnson and Cummings/Cain - the stuff about the texts and screenshots relating to Carrie Symonds - is untrue. This denial is from a source still in the government. Oh well. Still hope it’s in the movie."
For all the claims that it's Boris who makes stuff up, everyone else seems to be showing him how it's done.

She's the keystone in maintaining Johnson's statesman-like image. And she knows it because she used to be part of the team that crafted it. And she knows what leverage that gives her. Not absolute, but enough to boot a now unpopular SpAd out of the inner circle.
