Obviously a bit too dry.
Sorry
Do you really think the tone of the last few pages has been appropriate? Apologies accepted, but you might understand why I didn't spot the joke.Sorry
I can't say I particularly thought it was inappropriate but that's just me.
Honestly there's something kind of funny watching the people who were Boris's most loyal supporters now losing their st thinking he's going to get them implanted with GPS chips or whatever level of crazy they think up because he wants them to wear a mask.
Sorry but that's just human nature and I can't help that though I wasn't joking when I said I almost feel a little guilty because you wonder if some if it is a genuine affliction.
We all go a little too far sometimes and yes sometimes I am a ****
Four letters take your pick

The persistent use of the term "Ultras" to refer to anyone not criticising Boris, claims of attacks that didn't even occur in this thread and other tactics designed to dehumanise and demonise other posters on here is getting embarrassing.El stovey said:
Look back to this morning, the thread was all quite light hearted until you waded in calling people out and insulting them and now feigning victimisation and that you’re being demonised.
When did I wade in and call people out? Seriously chap, go and re-read the posts - and specifically the accusations you've been throwing around left right and centre. If you can't see it, you might be part of the problem.
Apologies if you genuinely feel demonised.

Sorry tuna I hope you’re taking the piss here because this is really flouncy stuff you’re posting. Hope you’re not having a bad time or something? Everyone’s got a bit going on at the moment.
Apologies if you genuinely feel demonised.
Grow a spine and admit you've been caught out. I'm fine, watching you try to claim black is white.Apologies if you genuinely feel demonised.
And don't worry, I know how much concern you have over posters being "stopped from posting", so I promise I won't flounce.

You keep trying to make it all about you and it’s actually a thread about Boris.
Shall we just go back to talking about Boris?

Honestly I think we should. This playground level stuff is getting a bit silly now (from all “sides”).
Right so the ‘famous’ government handling of the pandemic poll is seeing a slight rise in support.People happy about the lockdowns reducing and things slowly returning to normal?
Public also in support from all parties about face masks in shops.

Yea, I think so, though I would say such a rise is somewhat negligible. I would expect a further drop in “support for the govt over Covid handling” when furlough gets pulled and the unemployment ramps up.People happy about the lockdowns reducing and things slowly returning to normal?
I personally don’t think their handling has improved much (yes ending lockdown but mixed messages on masks) but the general outlook surely has.

If you look at the other countries though you see ups and downs as policies come into force etc

UKs seems to have seen the biggest rise and fall though from 72% positive in March to 40 odd now.

That's a good idea. Tuna's thread derailing is proof if proof were needed that it's a bad news day for Boris - but it's that news that we should be discussing, not a troll trying to distract from that news on a car forum.
This coming from one of PHs biggest Trolls! And directed at a poster that has a far better reputation on here than you Mr Nut! mx5nut said:

These Anti-BoJo Ultras (ABUs) are falling over themselves to get whipped up into a frenzy! It's a shame.
I don’t see the 5g issue as something Boris has to answer for, Cameron and Osborne got the ball rolling and since those heady days China is still a rouge state with no improvement on human rights abuses. We are bowing to the US I think. On matters of 5g this decision will probably set us back around 2 years according to a cyber security expert on LBC today, though he added that we currently lag so far behind other nations that the impact will be minimal, we will just stay in the slow lane.

Ass-covering and placebo; spot on Mark. My guess is that the government have an eye on a future enquiry, and when asked "why didn't you mandate masks, like the Scots did?" want to be able to answer "we did, when the evidence supported it."
Personally, the idea that I must wear a face covering to be allowed to buy food (in person), when 1 in 3900 people have the virus, is bonkers. I doubt this measure will entice shoppers to the high street. People like me will shop online, and some of the terrified will say "OMG, death masks! It's worse than I thought! Quick, back behind the sofa!"
It's illogical, it's not necessary, it's an erosion of personal freedom, and it's confirmation that this government are chaotic, bluffing fools.
Is it a bigger or lesser erosion of freedom than the lockdown we’ve come out of? Did you obey that erosion of freedom?Personally, the idea that I must wear a face covering to be allowed to buy food (in person), when 1 in 3900 people have the virus, is bonkers. Cameron really wanted to be friends with China, remember the pictures of him in the pub with Xi
It’s all gone a bit wrong since then.

Besides the things we discussed the other day, there are two other considerations. Firstly is the fact that the Trump administration is leaning heavily on its allies to make a ban on Huawei 5G kit meaningful. Secondly is that it was only at the start of the year that a consortium of western companies got together to propose a practical alternative. One of the reasons everyone has gone with Huawei to date is that they're pretty much the only game in town when it comes to 5G infrastructure as I understand it.On matters of 5g this decision will probably set us back around 2 years according to a cyber security expert on LBC today, though he added that we currently lag so far behind other nations that the impact will be minimal, we will just stay in the slow lane.
I'm really not sure what the cyber security expert on LBC was talking about - we have a choice here to either press ahead with the known insecure Huawei kit (which is what the whole world was doing up until a few months ago), or delay whilst we figure out a sensible alternative. If there was a practical alternative currently to hand, we (and everyone else) would be able to make the switch without hesitation. There are always people complaining we haven't switched to the latest and greatest, but that really comes down to how much Vodaphone and all the others are willing to invest in infrastructure.
I believe that 5G infrastructure doesn't really make much of a difference to our public networks - cell towers are cell towers and the range and rates are roughly the same as 4G - however, the big feature of 5G is that you can have indoor units (like WiFi routers) for highly localised (and really fast) data. My assumption is that the £2bn figure is the cost of replacing all of the existing Huawei kit that we're currently using for 4G.
