I wouldn't be surprised if it is jimbeaux.

Both posters deflect and refuse to get drawn into an argument in a very similar fashion.

Does what he wrote indicate there are any traits he admires in Trump?

He was very clear that his voting is based on policy, not personality. So personal character traits are somewhat moot.

How do you base your voting intent?
If the person is a congenital liar it doesn’t matter WHAT his policies are. Because he’s simply promising you what you want to hear

Even if the policies are good you have to look at the person’s ability to actually deliver them. Trump couldn’t deliver a piss-up in a brewery.

Finally, yes, personality does matter to me. I couldn’t bring myself to vote for somebody as loathsome as Trump regardless of how much better off I personally was. By voting for his policies you’re accepting that it’s OK for somebody to be a as a person.

I don't know what you mean biggrin From last night

Here's trump making stuff up on the fly again - pure lies: "Mexico is paying for the wall, just so you understand. They don't say that. They never say it. But we're gonna charge a small fee at the border. You know, the toll booths."
https://twitter.com/i/status/1303475540943417344

Cohen knows - he was a believer, said he would take a bullet for trump...
Michael Cohen calls Trump a "cult leader." "I've said this before, and I'll say it again: Open your eyes as I have. And I want you to appreciate that Donald Trump cares for no one or anything other than himself."

Leaving aside the stupidity of trying to collect $25bn at the toll booths - won't the people coming through those booths be mainly American? If the whole point of the Wall to keep Mexicans out why are they going to be lining up in front of the toll-booths??

No-one's talking to you.

Blackrabbit and I have been talking all day.

I'm looking for an insight as to why Trump appeals to a Brit.
Ah sorry. I forgot you were in charge of PH.

Can you drop me an IM and let me know which threads I'm allowed to respond to. Just so I know wink
Reply to whatever you want. But don't expect responses from me when you try and insert yourself into a conversation I'm having with someone else.
OK petal. Thanks for letting me know. I guess I can stand down now and never expect a response from you in the circumstances. It'll take some therapy to get over it, but I think I'll be OK wink

Any predictions on who may "win" the debate tonight (apart from Trump obviously claiming the victory)?

Biden just needs to bring everything back to his lack of taxes and his huge personal loans.

‘Are any of your £400m of loans coming due, owed to a foreign entity?’

‘Was trying to get income for your failing businesses the reason you opened up the economy so soon after Covid and potentially killed tens of thousands?’

‘The person you owe nearly half a billion dollars to is the real president’

Over and over.

Do you think he will be able to remember all three of those?

Well, it must be hard for him to remember all of his individual debts, but surely those in the hundreds of millions must be weighing on him at least a little bit?

Paul - that was a "hurrr durrr duurrrrr Biden is senile" reference.

I guess we'll find out tonight whether it's can't drink water and can't walk down a ramp and slurs his words and can't pronounce words Trump, or Biden, who has the greater mental faculties.

Seriously though, how the idea that Biden is senile has got traction against a backdrop of Trump being almost always incoherent is a miracle of the modern age. Or a miracle of Russian bot farms.

In Vanden Saab world, the democrats have let Biden, who suffers from senile dementia, be their candidate. But now he actually has to remember things and their otherwise excellent election strategy will come undone.

I suspect that one of the outcomes of tonight's debate is that the "Biden is senile" angle will be debunked to a much wider audience. Which, I suspect, is why the Trump camp are now pushing this ludicrous "Biden is on drugs" angle in advance.

Trump will play pigeon chess and claim victory, Biden will play a straight bat and not land a knockout punch on Trump.

God knows what the undecided will make of it.

Not sure what the point of these debates even is. Surely no one in the US is actually still undecided?

Somewhere between 4-8% I saw on one poll, the rest seem fairly solid
