Hancock tells BBC Bojo has been speaking to Rashford. Rashford says hasn't been in contact since June.

Hancock once again lying. getting ridiculous.

Also I never realised that the food at the HOC is subsidised yet MP's can also claim it back as an expense.

I’d be entitled to sweet F.A, because my OH would be expected to pay. That’s no free school Meals, No free house, no free school trips, no free school bus pass. I’ve no doubt it would be a struggle But the free school meals in the holidays malarkey would completely miss my starving child.

And how exactly do we define 'feckless'?
Plenty of folks on PH live massively beyond their means in a fake bubble of loans for watches & PCP for cars they can't really afford, some no doubt having bred children from multiple marriages.
Isn't that a rather feckless lifestyle? Or are we just talking about people who live in council estates and excluding people with huge mortgages?
I think most peoples definition of "feckless" is "anyone but them".

I suspect for many people it only takes a tiny little nudge and far less of one than they might think for them to find themselves turning into one of those they seem to dislike so much.
In the context of this thread I suspect anyone living as noted above and coming on here noting they cannot feed their kids so they are going hungry would get very short shrift. I suspect even from you both wink

Anybody causing harm/disadvantage to their children due to prioritising other expenditure is feckless. IMO. YMMV.

I've said it numerous times, on this and other discussions, the middle class feckless exists.

Parents failing to provide for their children and ensure they are fed is, by not means a class or income thing. Hence why I like the idea of free meals.

Happy with free meals, but if they are provided, there should be a deduction from benefits for the cost, otherwise you are simply rewarding neglect.

Indeed. in all of this, the first reaction of many is, (and should be) WTF are the parents doing?! Strange, how `some' seem to believe that it is always the government that should have `first' responsibility for bringing up peoples children, but these would often be the first to bleat about government interference in peoples lives, when government agencies go into peoples lives..
As posted before what Marcus Rashford, and some businesses are doing is to be commended, because, as some have pointed out, it is what actually happens to the kids in the end, which is the more important, (not where the money to do this is coming from).
I doubt that the kids worry about where the cash is coming from, if, and when they are tucking into a better meal than their parents are providing them with.
But some here, are just using the matter to virtue signal and express their faux outrage at the government, and just using the children as a political football to have a go at the government..

You’re not going to be very popular.

I can imagine that’s absolutely true though.

Fascinating that link. I did a calc on a single mum with two kids, no savings, looking for work in a council tax band B house with £550 a month rent.

Entitlement is £395 per week, or £1711 per month which is £20,540 a year.

Maybe Hancock had his fingers crossed behind his back when he said it does that count too?

Is this the first nudge of Hancock under the bus? smile

One of the things I think most can agree on is that this government's ability to communicate is dire. And I suspect that's half the battle (for some quarters, it's all the battle).
