Apologies if this has already been posted, but this is extremely alarming news:

Trump Administration Strips C.D.C. of Control of Coronavirus Data

Hospitals have been ordered to bypass the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and send all patient information to a central database in Washington, raising questions about transparency.

I think Trump has got away with far too much for far too long, should have been found guilty when impeached (spineless Rep Govs) and kicked out of office BUT if despite all the lies, his nonchalance towards to pandemic and suffering / deaths, divisiveness and other despicable actions, if they vote him back in then fair enough let them wallow in their cesspit of a corrupt 2nd world nation.
I think your username is somewhat apt.

You realise how their cesspit of a corrupt second world nation is run has a DIRECT impact on the rest of the planet, right?
yes well aware thank you - but if he is voted back in then what can we do apart from watch in awe from a distance ?
Are you aware that a majority of those that voted in 2016 voted against Trump? In fact 3 million more voted for his opponent than for him. But you think that all Americans should "wallow in their cesspit". Idiot.

I do wonder what the next few lots of productivity figures are going to look like for the US. The way things are going it seems to me entirely possible that China will overtake the US as the world’s largest economy.

I suspect if that happens trumps head will burst!

Republican Oklahoma governor Stitt Has tested positive for Covid-19.
This is the man who championed Trump’s rally in Tulsa and attended.
Darwinism really is alive and well in Trumpland.

What is the high rate of infections doing for the ICU rate? Are American hospitals approaching crisis level?

In some hot spots apparently, yes. For example:

It sums up voter fraud... minimal, ineffective, and done by Republicans
Yet Trump wants rid, would rather people die of CV 19 while standing in line for hours, because he knows it won't help HIM personally!
Coupled with voter suppression and deregistration, it's the only way he can win in November

Thanks for that. I should have used Google.

It's a bit scary, isn't it. It'd be one thing if their government was treating it seriously, but it seems there is no coordinated response. The likelihood seems to be that there is worse to come.

Another thing which also surprised me is that supposedly a lot of medical facilities are also struggling financially because they have been largely unable to do elective surgery and suchlike, which is what's profitable for them. Presumably the people really making the money in American healthcare at the moment are the insurance companies.

One of the main problems for some hospitals in Texas seems to be that, because there is no lockdown of any sort, the ICU is still full of RTA victims, gang shootings and (at this time of year) heatstroke victims. And a lot were still doing major elective surgery up to a few weeks ago, which means many of those people are still taking up beds.
