Due to appear in court on Thursday.

Newsnight reporting that the non prosecution deal struck by DOJ with Epstein back in 2008 is a federal agreement, and therefore she is also almost certainly immune to prosecution by a state authority. Be interesting to see where the New York prosecution team go with this. If true then that maybe explains something about her approach: sticking around and not fleeing overseas.

Also noted that the statute of limitations apply, because the offences mentioned date back over 20 years.

Ghislaine Maxwell, through counsel, agrees to a remote arraignment on July 14.

I hope she has lots of dirt on Trump, Andrew and others.

If such people are too big to be prosecuted, I want them publicly humiliated instead.

She is 58, and facing a max sentence of 35 years, so has the inventive to cooperate.

However, she has a reported $20 million in the bank so can fight this case with a top legal team. We don't know how much non circumstantial evidence they actually have on her. So she may go free, or get a shortee sentence.

Plus her life is in danger, as is the life of anyone she cares for.

Im betting she wont say a word, and will get a shorter sentence. Out in less for good behaviour in 10 years when none of us will care anymore.

Interesting.

I thought the limitations don't apply with kids (convoluted), reading on twitter. Provenance of that claim from a law blog and no idea of its correctness.

Let's face it, my fellow internet detectives. It would be quite surprising if the Feds arrested her several days ago with no legal grounds to do so and her lawyer hasn't pointed that out by now.

$20m isn't a lot in US terms and lawyer costs though, plus who wants to sit in a US jail for ten years. Look at what a few months did to Mannafort without his hair dye.

I would assume the same would have applied to Epstein before he was murdered.

I should imagine slick willie will be feeling a little nervous.... he clocked up some serious air miles on the lolita express.

I also doubt we are ever going to see this case really worked too hard - it has state sponsored blackmail written all over it

She isn't fighting Apple over an intricate patent suit... Surely it cant cost more than a million or two to defend what will mostly be circumstantial evidence.

I'm sure she has also lodged a claim against Epstein's estate for money to pay her legal fees.

The names of at least 1,000 people appear in sealed court documents associated with Jeffrey Epstein, a court heard on Wednesday. Whether to make them public is the latest skirmish in a years-long legal battle that continues to play out even after Epstein’s death.

The revelation came after attorneys for a “John Doe” asked a federal judge in New York not to release the names of people who were not directly involved with the 2015 defamation lawsuit filed by Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre against Epstein’s longtime confidante Ghislaine Maxwell.

Back in 2015, a woman named Virginia Roberts alleged that U.S. authorities had footage of her having underage sex with powerful friends of billionaire Epstein, who was charged by federal prosecutors on Monday with sex trafficking, including trafficking minors. Roberts said Epstein "debriefed her" after she had sex with these "associates" so that he would possess "intimate and potentially embarrassing information" that could be used for blackmail. Epstein's allies dismissed Roberts as "a liar and a fantasist."

But after Epstein was arrested on Saturday, a law enforcement search of his Upper East Side apartment reportedly revealed compact discs in a locked safe labeled "Young [Name] + [Name]," which, as The Intercept's Ryan Grim points out, could buttress Roberts' allegations.

Federal prosecutors on Monday said wealthy financier Jeffrey Epstein is a “serial sexual predator” who has maintained “a vast trove of lewd photographs” of young-looking women or girls as they asked a judge to hold him without bail on child sex trafficking charges.

Federal agents who searched Epstein’s $77 million Upper East Side townhouse in Manhattan also found “in a locked safe ... compact discs with hand-written labels including the following: ‘Young [Name] + [Name],’ ‘Misc nudes 1,’ and ‘Girl pics nudes,’ ” according to a new court filing in Epstein’s case.
