Good morning,
Please can anyone advise on good choice of winter tyres for 2014 rrs.
Will look to get set of wheels and tyres, so any pointers of good places to get, would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

Frankly any of the premium 'Winter' options should be fine but IIRC Land Rover recommend Pirelli Scorpion Winter.

The only suggestion I'd make if to forget about the notion of 'bling' and to go for practical. To which end, get the narrowest size available as this will give you much better 'purchase' on the ground when things get slippery. If you're looking at a second set of rims, see if you can find a set of 19" as this will mean you can go for 235/65R19... The 19" means you'll get a deeper sidewall to the tyre, which will also improve the comfort of the ride.

As for where to get them... See if you can find a second hand set on ebay or one of the owners forums as there are often people wanting to 'bling' up their cars with new rims and wanting to shift the old rims. Replace the rubber and you'll be good to go.

PS - Just noticed your location... Try AJS Tyres as Andy often has second hand sets available.

You know, I can't for the life of me remember what make of winter tyre I bought for mine. (Someone will recognise them from the tread pattern, I'm sure!)
They've done a couple of seasons now and will last a couple more. I purchased a used set of LR RRS rims in standard RRS size and kept the same tyre dimensions too. They've worked well.

Another vote for Pirelli Scorpions. I’ve had them on my old LR Discovery and Jeep GC. I found them to be a great all-round all-season tyre. There only downfall was their awful ability in deep mud, but for those sort of conditions you’d be wanting 20/80’s anyway.

Went into the garage today, they're General Tires Snow Grabbers. I use Pirelli Scorpions as a summer tyre.

There’s a list of approved tyres on the website - outside of those, best to inform your insurers

After that it depends what your winter conditions are like and what kind of driving. Cold wet motorways ? Deep fresh snow ? Compacted ice ?
