Are the Daily Mail running out of things to trigger angry gammons over?
Imagine getting angry about how an estate agent chooses to describe a bedroom
It's probably only you that sees anger, most see it as business reacting to the virtue signalling that seems to be occurring in all walks of life, and people posting examples of just how far such nonsense could end up heading.Imagine getting angry about how an estate agent chooses to describe a bedroom
Still, for you, the post gave some momentary pleasure I guess.
This has been going on for a few years now, used to work in the AV industry and we had a edict from above that we were to not refer to sockets via gender anymore which was ignored by all on the ground, also had a male client who took offence at a lapel mic being colloquially called a tie mic.

As protests against systemic racism swept the globe this year, there have been calls by some photographers for ending the use of the terms “master” and “slave” in the industry. Now Canon has come forward as the first camera company to officially stop using those terms on its camera gear.
In photographic lighting, a “master” device is one that is able to control/trigger a “slave” device. While these terms have been standard in the industry for decades, some have argued that they’re unnecessary ones that could easily be replaced with alternatives

The tech world is way ahead on this nonsense. Loads of top tech firms like Twitter, Github, LinkedIn etc are changing all their terminology, This would have made a decent April fools article last year but sadly it is no joke
Master/slave
Grandfathered
Whitelist/Blacklist
Man hours
etc all out and replaced with non-offensive replacements

What a load of bks. Imagine spending $millions on such nonsense!Master/slave

What do you do if your car needs a new slave cylinder?!?
I suppose the phrase does sound odd when you actually stop to think about it but if we're having some reform of estate agent jargon, can we also clean up some of the other wky toss they use?
I'll nominate things like:
The garden 'enjoys' a south facing aspect
The room 'benefits' from a radiator
The use of the word manageable to describe things that are tiny.
The use of the word 'bijou' in any context
Describing a large cupboard as a bedroom
Good transport links = built under spaghetti junction.
Requires 'modernising' or 'updating' to describe derelict buildings in the advanced stages of being reclaimed by nature.

Furthermore it's all part and parcel of a shallow, vain and self-gratifying trend where the latest cause is identified and everyone jumps on the wagon without really knowing who's driving it, where it's going and how it's being driven. All this for the shallowest reasons, to garner approval. After the event we can see the wreckage that it's caused but those that have played a part in it have long since scuttled off.
Look online at the amount of times someone with an agenda or an objective inquiry has challenged the BLM protesters to explain their understanding of what they're protesting against and the protesters either get violent, throw insults or scurry off.

Not particularlyLooking online the term "master bedroom" started to be used in the early twentieth century, or in other words a hundred years after slavery had been abolished.
As mentioned before it arose as that was the bedroom expected to be used by the master of the house or in other words the head of the family.
The term Master is used to denote someone who is in charge of something. Hence Head Master, Master at arms, Ship's master etc etc

It appears that some estate agents are taking heed of singer John Legend and dropping the term master bedroom from property descriptions, this follows on from no longer using the phrase his and hers when referring to bathrooms, dressing rooms etc.

Seems the DM have their dates muddled...or they've failed once again to any research before running a sentationalised celeb-related fluff piece which panders to their readership's slavering appetite for such fare.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8488879/E...
TMZ (an even worse celeb gossip-based outlet) reported the following in late June, before Legend said anything, hence his "fix the real problem" comment:
on 26th June the TMZ website said:
The Houston Association of Realtors is no longer using the word "master" to hype bedrooms and bathrooms on its Multiple Listing Service ... instead, the realtors are going with the word "primary."
The change in terminology, which happened quietly earlier this month, is already in place on HAR's property listing database ... and it came after several members demanded a review of the language, which some believe carries connotations to slavery.
According to HAR, the change has been raised and considered for several years ... and they are finally pulling the plug on "master." It's worth noting ... Houston has one of the nation's highest African-American populations.
Don't celebrate or scream into the void just yet ... HAR says the change is merely a suggestion, and does not constitute a ban of the term "master."

Who's ignorant though? It means 'main'.
You can have a master key. It means the main key.
Master bedroom also means the main bedroom, and doesn't come from it being the bedroom of the 'master', it just happens that the master of the house would no doubt tend to chose the main or 'master' bedroom in most homes.

This is what happens when you allow a bunch of complete headbangers to speak out for you unfortunately. Its gone from a crusade against racism to a crusade against everything they can think of.
Kinda reminds me of the film, The Outlaw Josey Wales, where captain redlegs responds to being told that the fighting is at an end with "Doing good aint got no end" as an excuse to carry on the murder.
Thats whats happening with this pack of muppets, theyre doing "good", just dont speak out or youll get labelled as well.
Take care of yourself and I do mean that sincerely.
