Estate Agents drop Master Bedroom from listings
Discussion
Estate agents can call it what they want, it doesn't bother me. It only bothers me if I'm expected to stop using the term.
It's not a reference to slavery, nor is not offensive in any way so I'm not going to change my language.
Same with gendered connectors that comes up every now and then. It's what I was taught (correctly) and it works perfectly well.

TBF I don't know why the term Master was ever used for a bedroom anyway but certainly in the last 80 years. Primary or Main are far more appropriate and descriptive. A quick Google throws up the various descriptions for the word Master and I don't really see any of them being particularly appropriate to describe a room.

Like all these things that massive to cause offence, it's just a word.
As a childless man, I am greatly offended by the term 'family bathroom'.
"Summer house" should be banned, as it may be potentially triggering for those who suffer from Seasonal Affective DisorderAs a childless man, I am greatly offended by the term 'family bathroom'.

Who's ignorant though? It means 'main'.
You can have a master key. It means the main key.
Master bedroom also means the main bedroom, and doesn't come from it being the bedroom of the 'master', it just happens that the master of the house would no doubt tend to chose the main or 'master' bedroom in most homes.
My point was that it's obvious the term master is applied in many different situations and for a multitude of uses. To not be aware of uses outside of the one situation that causes offence is ignorance.
The term master was not invented for the slave trade and the master suite was not named as such because of the slave trade.
Their only connection is a word.
Growing up in Hong Kong we had ‘darkie’ toothpaste until the 90s then it got changed to ‘darlie’ but with the same character, then they put a white man on the picture.
Now the BLM thing has put pressure on the owners Colegate to change the Chinese characters which still call it ‘Black People Toothpaste’
Some countries are still a bit behind the U.K.

I'm surprised the loony lefties have not honed in on the versions that use names and phrases such as;
Whitening
A whiter smile
A whiter brighter smile
Supreme whiteness
Ultimate whitening
and so on...
They are the really dangerous "extreme far right" and "white supremacist" toothpastes that are killing millions and millions and millions of bacteria in mouths every time they are used, often twice a day.
