Good PR that is. The Met know that the IOPC has no teeth and even if it recommends just a slap on the wrist for the police the Met can simply ignore it.

Institutional racism still exists in the Met
https://www.bbc.com/news/stories-53224394

It will be interesting to see what the IOPC makes of the encounter. If it was racial profiling then the officers should be sacked and made to pay compensation out of their own pockets (some hope).
Why will it?

You'll only accept the outcome you want, not the one that's correct because you don't know what you're talking about.

The police referring themselves to the IOPC is a cynical ploy designed to gain some semblance of credit. Naive of them to think the public would be fooled by it.
Magic mind reading. It can only possibly the way you interpret it...

In the footage of the mercedes there are cars parked both ways. If i understand the no entry sign is opposite the pub, so the Tigra must also be facing wrong way? Unless I am reading this wrong? Going through a no entry with police behind shoujd surely have generated a ticket, as should being on wrong side of road, driving off, speeding and dicking around generally, yes? Unless a mistake was made and police decided to let things swerve?
They have changed the road layout in the last two or three years.

You can 100% go down the street that starts with the union tavern, passes angies on the left. Then you go all the way to the bottom and it curves left back onto a different part of harrow road

There was a comment she made about black people driving a Mercedes. It looks like a regular A class to me, an older one at that. Nothing special about it whatsoever.

Crop from a still doing the rounds on the net. May be from the pub cctv mentioned in another post. Windscreen and front side windows appear clear - not tinted
This is key to the 'wrong-way-down-one-way-street' part of the story. The cctv is from the Angie's Free House pub on the corner of Woodfield Road and Woodfield Place W9, and the Mercedes has just driven past a No Entry sign where Woodfield Road becomes One Way, after the junction with Woodfield Place, which is the junction just visible on the extreme right of the above still. The TSG van behind is near the junction with Great Western Road.

All easily viewable on Google Maps.

Depends on whether the Google Maps image that Bigends posted above is the current layout, or the one that I posted. Mine says capture was from March 2017, so could be out of date?

In any case, I wouldn't be surprised to see a car parked facing wrong way on the beginning of a One Way street in London. See it all the time.

So, the going wrong way down a one way street is also now out of the (non tinted) window?

I will refrain from further comment until all info is collated and presented, if we get to see/hear about it. Guess this shows how difficult things are nowadays for police and public alike when complaints are made. I wonder how this ends up? Still smell elements of BS from both sides to be honest.

When ever I been stopped by the Police I have always pulled over, if you drive off I don't see how you can be expected to be treated as anything other then hostile.

Question, the police pull over far more men then woman are the police therefore sexist?

The Mercedes clearly had a maker on it. The person they bought it of was probably stopped and searched and whether released without charge or not that car will have flagged up on an AMPR camera.

Marked car- tick

Black man driving - tick

Officers probably thought they were on to something using their racismo sense.

Yep. Ffs don't get out the car in the US irrespective of what colour you are, you'll likely end up handcuffed lying on your stomach with a gun pointed at your head!
I did exactly that in California in 1996. I think the two US coppers were surprised but nothing like you describe, happened.

Here is a video of a recent stop by the Met on a young black youth. It matters very little about the underlying circumstances surrounding that stop, when there are a baying blinkered mob, willing to defend the accused at all costs. Bit like on here really.

The professional outraged bystander brigade are often unable to resist giving their opinion on something that's nothing to do with them.

I hardly think anyone will become a green eyed monster seeing a black person behind the wheel of it. It would barely get a second glance.

The Met Police statement doesn’t mention driving down a one way street the wrong way, does it?
That’s just internet speculation.

Can we skip to the part where we just let people from BAME communities do what they want and stop arresting them no matter what they could be proven to do?

I got out the car when I got pulled in the US, mainly because I'd had a couple of drinks a few hours before, so was worried he might smell my breath. He told me to get back in! Then asked if I'd been drinking, "no" I replied, hmm, must be your cologne then he replied. Cheeky get! :-)
