Has anyone done any correlation between Brexit voting and attitudes to handling the pandemic?
It's only my impression but I do get the feeling that the same people that were such venomous Remainers seem very similar to the angry pro-lockdown, pro-control and pro-vax side of the argument.
It would be nice if that spiteful insulting theme could be taken out of the discussion. It does seem to be the default of Remain/Control to start getting abusive and attempt to belittle rather quickly into any argument. Is Bill Gates the new Godwin?
No I just think people are sick to death of idiots howling at the moon while being oblivious to any scientific facts. It's only my impression but I do get the feeling that the same people that were such venomous Remainers seem very similar to the angry pro-lockdown, pro-control and pro-vax side of the argument.

FYI gun owning remainer here.

I'm far from doom and gloom, I just have an understanding of where we are. We need effective treatments (see the sixty year old steroid that is now being used) rather than a vaccine.
There will be other viruses, there won't be a vaccine for them, rinse and repeat.
A vaccine stops someone getting the virus. A steroid will help manage the effects of them having caught the virus. Theres no long term effects on how having that steroid for covid will affect someone. Are you suggesting everyone refuses to have that steroid? There will be other viruses, there won't be a vaccine for them, rinse and repeat.
Yes there will and hopefully one of the things that will have been learnt is how to manage virus spread better without having to lockdown the whole country.

That steroid has only been in use for sixty years...
It improves survivability for those very sickest patients. It's not an effective treatment for the vast majority of infections, it has no impact on the virus whatsoever, it simply modulates some of the more severe inflammatory reactions in the sickest patients. It won't lower hospitalisation rates and won't do a lot to alleviate pressure on ICU resources.WinstonWolf said:

Indeed and glucocorticoid steroids are known to cause, amongst other things, diabetes, osteoporosis, weakening of the immune system(!), psychosis(!!)...You can Google this stuff.
Furthermore, if you’re at the point of being given steroids, that means you’re suffering from severe systemic inflammation, which means you’re in big trouble. Better, if possible, to not get to that position in the first place.

Funny, I was also seeing similarities between Brexiteers and covid enthusiasts.anonymous said:

Hang on. The large doses of steroids used to treat SARS pneumonia left bone damage which was still detectable in some patients 15 years later.

I don't currently need it, it's of no benefit to me whatsoever.
That's demonstrably not true; by your own statements you have benefited several times from treatment by the NHS, if services come under pressure due to a significant 2nd wave and you have an acute medical need you will be at risk of not getting prompt treatment. Elective treatment dislocated again as well. WinstonWolf said:
I can't see a problem with infection control in that scenario at all...
A damascene conversion to seeing it as a genuine danger, marvellous.RTB said:

And another thing, why arn't the government telling people to get some exercise, take their vitamins, eat healthy and generally look after themselves as a first line of defence to this strain of flu.
And another key point, in a year of 'pandemic' why are total deaths lower than previous years. (And in a year when health care has been denied to many with serious health issues!).
And another, why have deaths attributed to the seasonal flu barely registered this year?
So much wrong in just 3 sentences. And another key point, in a year of 'pandemic' why are total deaths lower than previous years. (And in a year when health care has been denied to many with serious health issues!).

priceless
Use common sense...
When holding a knife: if passing it to people, don't throw it and expect them to catch.
When crossing the road: wait for a suitable gap in the traffic rather than run across without looking.
When on a big night out if a woman: stay with your friends, keep an eye on your drink.
When playing paintball: wear a face mask.
Going out during a pandemic: do you? don't you? should you wear a mask? How far apart should you be?

Masks are not effective. In fact they harm your health by restricting breathing and re-inhaling exhaust air. Next. When holding a knife: if passing it to people, don't throw it and expect them to catch.

Can you provide some scientific proof of that claim please, not some hack job Web site but a proper genuine scientific paper that backs up your claim? Woody John said:
