Car vibrates/rumbles
Discussion
Good afternoon,
Back with another problem, I'm slowly getting through them all 😊 When stationary and lightly applying the throttle or driving in low gears and tapping the throttle my car makes a deep rattle / rubble sound, to me it sounds like something is loose and vibrating causing a rumble. I've checked everywhere and adjusting things that may cause it but it's still doing it, I've had it on a lift and nothing is loose or noticeable which would be causing it . Can't really hear it outside the car as it's a diesel and the tractor noise over powers it but its very noticeable in the car. Its sounds like it's coming from the right side of the engine. It's been doing it for a week or so now but it's getting louder and more annoying. Any ideas to point me at?
Thanks

Noticed today it only does it when it has been driven for about 5 mins, when I turn the car off and wait half an hour or so the sound isn't there when I start it back up and rev abit, but it starts making a rumbling/vibrating noise again after 5 mins at idle while revving to 1200rpm or driving and under load at around 1200rpm. It was rattling abit more today, similar to a description I read on google, 'spanners in a tumble dryer', but it's wasn't overly loud and I can only hear it inside the car. Can't hear fk all outside. When it's idling with no input from the throttle it sounds absolutely normal. I've ordered a mechanic stethoscope so I'll hopefully be able to pinpoint it.

Can't find anything with the stethoscope. Injectors sound find, in my opinion anyway. Couple have a very slight different tone of tinging noise but I think they're fine. The only thing I did notice but was on the sump. The was rattling on occasion but only did It a few times. Could be cause I was laying down and not using the stethoscope properly. It's bugging me. Car drives fine, nice and smooth, MPG is slightly down (but I'm gonna reset it later and check it over a few days) and when changing into 3rd and 4th it feels like abit of turbo lag but other than that is fine. It's just when the car gets warm it has a deep vibrating noise which comes on around 1200rpm and vanishes about 1500rpm. Could I be missing something?

I put the stethoscope on the bell housing and there was no bad noises etc. I don't mind it being the DMF cause I'm already prepared for the clutch, DMF, CSC and a nice uprated gearbox to go on just don't want anything else to go cause it'll be more funds leaving my pocket. Fingers crossed it is the DMF. Just feels like something is loose and vibrating against something. My gut is saying it's an injector, I'm doing a diesel purge within the week so maybe that may rule that out. My DMF is more to the passenger side of the engine and I'm hearing it more to the right, I suppose noise can be deceiving. Wouldn't a DMF be noisey all the time? I'm only getting it when the car is at operating temp. What other symptoms is a bad DMF?

Not once. Haha. For ages I assumed my gearbox failed again and just ignored to find out it was actually my wheel bearing. So my gut feelings mean fk all... Probably end up being something stupid like the exhaust flex pipe or dashboard. All this panic and waste of time and money for fk all. Haha

Just been to a mechanic who said the vibration/noise sounds and feels like an imbalance which potentially points to a DMF, booked in next week to check to make sure. Happy days... Sort of
I assume that's good news since you are already lined up to upgrade the gearbox.GreenV8S said:
