Anyone going to be affected by any of this?
For me, the most obvious seem to be driving licence and holiday related, but I imagine students and powerfully built directors may have a harder time.

Cannot believe we have to waste time with the IDP... I actually have both (there are two at least) because I like to galavant in cars, bikes, and other vehicles around the world.
Our driving licenses are EU style. The IDP is to convert into the EU format... A (bike), B (cars), C lorries, D (bus), +E (trailers). So it is nothing more than a waste of time... Total joke IMO.

I think an IDP is what existed before, I assume they have to adopt new rules to recognise british licences? Our driving licenses are EU style. The IDP is to convert into the EU format... If we agree a deal with the EU, then that may include reciprocal agreements for use of EU/UK driving licences . The .gov.uk site is allowing for a no deal case when there won't be any such agreements. Our driving licenses are EU style. The IDP is to convert into the EU format... It makes the petulant flag waving brigade something to feel like they got their sovereignty back, though. Our driving licenses are EU style. The IDP is to convert into the EU format... Did anyone bother with the IDP before the EU? I used to drive around Europe alot back in the day and never had one, got stopped by Police in several countries and never had a problem...And on the subject of mobile phones and roaming - I wonder which of the UK operators is going to crack first and reintroduce charges - me I can't wait to be paying £1 a minute and a fortune for data again - so annoying. And you can bet that they'll use some crap like "in order to improve your customer experience ....".

I know, I won't be able to the to the USA or Australia and get free roaming because we are not in the EU with them...Oh wait...http://www.three.co.uk/go-roam

I can pretty well guarantee that post no-deal Brexit that people like French coppers will take a great delight in nicking you for no licence. I certainly won't risk it.

We all knew we were voting for more red tape and expense for British people. And on the subject of mobile phones and roaming - I wonder which of the UK operators is going to crack first and reintroduce charges - me I can't wait to be paying £1 a minute and a fortune for data again - so annoying. What's the relevance between someone being stopped for speeding and having their car impounded and not having a valid (to drive in France, elsewhere in Europe) driving licence?
If they take the rules seriously enough to impound your car for going too fast, what do you think they're going to do when you haven't got a valid licence to drive it in their country?I know that because it's a consequence of Brexit we have to pretend that there are no downsides and only considerable upsides, but come on...

I would agree most countries take driving without a licence very seriously. There have been a number of treads on French police stopping for excess speeding, cars being inpounded, so you have to find your way home and get someone else to pick up your car. Not worth the risk.
Yes - a UK reg will be easy picking for French, Belgian police going forwards. Not to mention you can forget about trying to rent a car in the EU without one.
We're no longer 'part of the club' and will be treated as such.

Impounding cars in France is nothing new, they've been doing that for years, and well before a referendum was even being talked about.
Who has ever suggested Brexit would bring considerable upsides?
Have you even read what the new advice suggests one needs to do prior to Dec 2020 if you want to fly to or drive to in Europe?
It really is a fuss about nothing.

If the EU want to introduce extra red tape, and the French and Belgian police want to single us out for "special" treatment then I'm glad we're leaving such a st organisation.

Based on the treads if you are caught in France a set amount above the speed limit your licence is automatically suspended. So you can no longer dive in France. They do not impound your car but simply hold on to it until you get someone with a valid licence to pick it up.
