Even my autistic son (with sensory issues) didn’t have a problem wearing one, and understood the reasons why. It really isn’t (shouldn’t be?) an issue!

But then you should appreciate that everyone is different, and even those in the autistic spectrum can vary massively.

But the point is that provided the majority wear masks then it should (science forthcoming) improve the virus numbers.

If I had to, I'd wear one. I don't currently, as I don't really see the point.

I have seen some weird sights in the last few weeks.

People walking on their own and not within 50M of anyone else with face masks on and so many people in cars, driving on their own with face masks on - why would they choose to do that?

I just find it very odd.

I will comply with the regulations, I hope that the supermarkets will have them available for purchase ‘at the door’. People will forget their mask and be irritated that they cannot go shopping upon arrival, cheap face mask is job done.

I passed someone running along a rural lane last week with a full on face mask on. I really wonder what was going through their mind when they decided it was a good and reasonable thing to do. Some peoples perception of risk/benefit/ is interesting for sure. Though some of it is a WOKE signalling mentality for them to feel holier-than-though

Shopping and visiting the pub are both things I've learned to do without as a result of 'lockdown' - both activities have now become marginal choices. Consequently being mandated to wear a face nappy is likely to cause me to continue to buy my booze and 'stuff' on line.

I think the Govt realise this is the case for a lot of people hence their prevaraction over the issue.
Absolutely. Physically going shopping was already marginal. As I haven't set foot inside a store for 4 months, I've realised I can do without. Even trivial stuff like a few washers .... can be stuck in an envelope. Even if there were bowls of coke outside, and the shops were full of hookers, I'd probably not bother. Queue outside and wear a mask? No chance whatsoever.

Less likely, but to be fair, I'm hardly a big shopper anyway.

I have a couple of these: https://www.virustaticshield.com , bought early on in the whole thing incase they were made mandatory. No idea if they actually do have the specialness they claim to have, but hopefully will fit the requirement if it stays as 'face covering.'

Personally, I don't think they should be mandatory, but if that happens, it'll be the weekly food shop I'll need it for - everything else can be done online.

I’ve been wearing masks since February in Hong Kong. I’m not even sure what the debate about is in the Uk other than why have you waited 6 months to even think about doing the obvious.

Nobody, including me is saying its any sort of issue making masks compulsory in shops, nobody cares in the least. Personally I won't be wearing a mask so that automatically means I won't be visiting a shop anymore, don't see how anyone can have any sort of problem with that, its not compulsory to go shopping.

If they become mandatory i simply wont go in any shops. Will have to get groceries delivered even though i can see my local Tesco superstore from my front door....

Wonder if will apply to petrol stations, as this would make filling up more complicated, and i visit them regularly......

Oxford Uni: "Face masks work - wear one now."

Whining about how it's 'uncomfortable' or '..but I don't like it.." is absurd; you're being asked to put a bit of fabric over your face for a short time, not blackout all your windows, shop with a ration booklet and shelter in Underground stations overnight while bombs fall. Deal with it.

And arguing against it causing 'respiratory problems in people' - if they're that much at risk then they shouldn't be out at all and about mingling without a mask anyway - shop online, get a friend or family member to get it for you.

Just wear a bloody mask for a bit, eh?

For me, it's just another illogical bit of nonsense from the government. Bits of damp cloth draped across your face are likely to make no difference to anything. Especially when we have 1 in 3900 people infected at present. And you don't need to cover up when in a pub, despite it being a more risky setting than a shop. And it wasn't deemed necessary at the height of the pandemic. But now it is, apparently. And we're definitely not just copying wee Nippy, no way.

Genuine question - why?

Is it a macho thing? Do you think you'll look silly? I honestly can't comprehend it but eager to know why.
