There was none of this 40 yrs ago. None.
Just look at all the blight for miles on every bit of infrastructure on the railways, it's everywhere.
If ever proof was needed that if you don't nip it in the bud, this has to be a perfect demonstration of it.
It should have been cracked down on from the outset.
Just remove all wksy's political rubbish and jail him for criminal damage.
Art no matter how it is percieved should be in a gallery so that those who wish to see it can do so and those who don't wnat to don't have to.
Europe is under siege from all this graffiti.
I dont feel besieged. When I see good graffiti I feel privileged. Just look at all the blight for miles on every bit of infrastructure on the railways, it's everywhere.

Presumably this was done with the permission of the carriage owners?
I don't bet but I'd put money on TFL being in on it. The way it's filmed, edited and the access afforded. If anyone else turned up at a tube station wearing that gear and kit, they'd not make it to the platform. How LONG would that have taken so-called Banksy to do all that without anyone in on it?
Probably paid well too.
TfL said it 'appreciated the sentiment of encouraging people to wear face coverings.'
and then
'We'd like to offer Banksy the chance to do a new version of his message for our customers in a suitable location.'
Yeah, TfL. ALL OVER IT!
Glad I don't live in the capital nor need to use the trains.
I’d be interested in knowing how much the bankrupt TFL paid for his services.

Marvellous, the juxtaposition between traditional Banksy artwork with the rat and type of tagging you'd usually see on trains from casual urban graffiti artists
really crosses boundaries and invites the observer to imagine a melting pot where both ends of the spectrum are essentially the same thing.
I agree entirely, it’s a work that aims at the void and involves the viewer in the process provoking a psychological response that signifies the non being of what it represents. Obviously combined with a collective sense of the sublime through the universality of the oblique nature of the rat.really crosses boundaries and invites the observer to imagine a melting pot where both ends of the spectrum are essentially the same thing.

I also like much of Banksy's work. It doesn't matter that staff may be the ones going out and physically doing it, that the way much art is done these days. Conceptual artist comes up with the idea, others make it.
My son has just completed a masters at CSM, his part time job was working for an art fabricator making major pieces for conceptual artists. His job paid very well, more than twice the London Living Wage. So these people create jobs too.
My son worked on several pieces forr Maguerite Hummeau
Ironically, Blue junior dislikes Banksys work, we often "discuss" it

You sound like a embittered Communist!
I would say Banksy is 100 times the socialist I am. This is the standard response on PH you can't criticise the rich, well you clearly can, being rich makes you no better than someone else .He does art that appeals to people who know nothing about art but can tell people they now are into art. Art should never be about money but it is, and the worse for it.

Or are you suggesting poverty is essential for anyone espousing social awareness or socialism? If so, surely this merely further entrenches the divided society that brought such thought about and promulgated its continuance?
I'm suggesting that clearly when you are commenting on social injustices or poverty etc, the richer and more isolated you are from society I dont think you can really preach messages whilst squeezing money out of as many middle class idiots who pay thousands for your heavily computer processed art, which is most likely not even made by yourself.
The best thing though he knows what he doing and to be fair to him I respect him for that, it is actually quite funny.

'Mobile lovers' sold for over £400,000, which all went to a youth club that was on the verge of closing.
You have to be a little bitter to not see that as a positive thing.
