“ The deaths of two children and two adults after a migrant boat sank off the coast of northern France should serve as a "wake-up call" to those in power, charities have said.
Fifteen others were taken to hospital but the French authorities believe at least one more could be lost at sea.
Care4Calais urged the government to create legal routes for refugees to reach the UK.”

Silly games, silly prizes. They gambled & lost.

They caused their own problem so I fail to see why we should care about their fate; if anything it might help to discourage others.

Care4Calais might wish to explore the concept of refugees taking refuge in France where it's mostly not a war zone.

And also advertising to refugees that what they are doing is both illegal and highly dangerous. It needs to be a wake up call for refugees to follow the routes that already exist for legal immigration into the UK (and France for that matter).

Priti Patel finally takes strong action on illegal migrants.....

In a press release the Home Secretary said...."this is a major investment in deterring migrants from attempting to cross the Channel. I have approved the investment of £5,000 in red paint which is a significant saving against more patrol boats and crews, which would do no good at all. This firm action shows we are committed to delivering on our promise to "take back control of our borders". Be in no doubt, this Government is committed not just to red paint but white and blue as well".

I know who cares about a couple of children. Well actually most civilised people. In my view you should be deported to some where unpleasant you should have no right to live in the UK.

Would it follow that the areas that are "war zones" are those inhabited by ..... Immigrants, refugees, descendants thereof and Muslims. Who were fleeing War Zones in the first place ?

Unfortunately, the unspoken issue is the vermin who are making money out of facilitating illegal entry to the UK. They are the most culpable here and should be pursued to the ends of the earth.

Their parents didn't seem to care. Proof of this is that they endangered their kids rather than claiming asylum in France or previous countries passed through.

I probably won't be deported due to a) having the right to live here and b) paying my way rather than wanting to sponge from the state. If I risk my life to get somewhere illegally I don't expect sympathy if I die in the attempt.

Tell that to the French.

Unfortunately you do have the right to live here. That's an accident of birth. Do you deserve the right to live here is another matter.

I am sure the poster cares about children dying perhaps his point was their death was caused by the reckless, selfish, illegal act of the adults with them and is in no way a UK problem.

The people coming across are predominantly Muslims, the same as the ones doing the beheading, not the ones being beheaded.

Why are you sure his post was very clear. Depending where they came from but quite possible the UK was directly or indirectly responsible for their plight.

The people who tragically lost their lives yesterday came from France.
The UK was in no way directly responsible for their deaths, suggesting that the UK was indirectly responsible for the migrants death is very much open to debate.

You have zero evidence to support its the UK fault. But lets say we bombed there town in x country so they fled. Coming to the UK when you were in a safe place seems odd. Also lets be frank the first safe place they reached was not Calais either.

There deaths are sad but they are a result of their own illegal, selfish, reckless actions there is no chain of causation back to some possible UK government actions
