Or maybe increase Foreign Aid to improve the chances these folk in their home countries so they don't feel the need to undertake such a perilous journey in the first place!

Or maybe that idea doesn't sell as many copies of the Daily Wail and Daily Excrete or resonate with the right wing tory factions Prime Minister Johnson likes to attract.....
Why do you think this country should be paying to uplift living standards in other countries? Laughable.
So you do not believe in helping those who have less than you?
Yes, once we've helped every single person in this country that we are able to, including millions that were born elsewhere. Put down your flag of virtue vile creature.
Me vile? Not sure you understand what it means. I am not a Christian but I understand the concept of helping those less fortunate than us.

If you struggle to tell the difference between a soul in desperate need of assistance and a powerfully built company director lurking around my back garden then I’m afraid your beyond help!
Most of the asylum seekers we see in the media, seem to be nearer the latter,

Would you expect them to stay and for you to feed and cloth them? How many can you take ?
And yes I lock my doors as most normal people do, I hope you have told your insurance company of your policy , I am sure they will be sympathetic to your viewpoint.
If a distressed soul required shelter and some food then I’d do my best to assist.

Would you turn a victim of domestic violence back towards the person that assaulted them?
What if they were currently living next door (far from their abuser), and decided that they preferred you help them. Then when you did provide shelter they burnt it down because it wasn't good enough.

All of them? Each and every person that wishes to come to the UK? And how about helping their home nations instead? Or do we do that as well?

It's a noble claim and a nice sentiment, but it's just the sort of window-licking logic that is ballsing everything up. There are huge chunks of the developing world that would jump at the chance to come to the West and, for many, the epitome of that being the UK.

We have responsiblity - a very serious one - to genuine refugees, but the precedent regarding economic migration needs to be very clear, for the mathematic reasons above.

My suspicion on mass migration is that it is one of the awkward issues that the great reset hopes, by basic means of restricting travel, to contain.

And that is why we need to improve their home countries, to deter them from making such a perilous journey and becoming so vulnerable. Glad you are finally starting to see things my way.

I presume you intend to lead by example - what exactly have you done ?

I assume the T6 has been sold and the funds donated ?

Unfortunately I don't give cash to charities I support, I prefer to give them my time. What are you planning to do to help others?

Don't read either, but, that's not a measured response either way.

Perhaps you could demonstrate how truly magnanimous `you' are by devoting large sums of `your' money, or `your' time towards the upkeep of the Daily Mail, or the Express? That would prove you really are a caring sharing individual.

Don't do this. You'll need that money when your T6 comes out of warranty.

Mine's been st and is going as soon as I can figure out what to buy next. 100% it will not be a VW though, as we have 3 on the fleet and all are ste, which is a shame, because my T5 was really good.

FYI, living standards are horrendous in the other countries you speak of because of (and not limited to) us stealing their resources (sorry, “lending our technologies”), selling them bombs (sorry, “peacekeeping”), depressing their wages (sorry, “investing in them”), and saddling them with debts that can’t possibly be repaid (sorry, “providing aid”).

You may not be aware of this but the world isn’t quite the level playing field you seem to think and it’s not purely your own individual brilliance which separates you from an Eritrean kid on a leaky dinghy clutching his iPhone 3.

Of course they are and there are countries with a higher standard of living than ours. Which country would you want to pitch as the level you are bringing everybody, up to ?

I cant see that it is up to us increase living standards in other countries.
