went to the ivy for lunch, they have these neat face scanners on entry which read your temperature. you either then get a green light or a red light. the temperature read out displays on the screen.
good job i never went last week when i had an ear infection lol
no doubt once the pandemic is over they can be used for racial and political profiling to detect the risk of me blowing up the building.
no masks required though.
They have one at a security suppliers I go to the guy I work with fails every time and I get the big flashing red light off the other camera telling me to ware a mask. good job i never went last week when i had an ear infection lol

People who are buying them just for covid though have more money then sense.

Slower doesn't help you utter fking muppet. most HoH people also lip read. Well they did until every fker hid their faces..
Nice to see your good manners shining through.Do not expect me to get into an insult slanging match, you are in it on your own.
But I guess you don't deal with many HOH people, slower helps more than anything. Try it. Even ask such a person.
Very very few people lip read, I only know of 1 that does. Most try to catch as many words as they can and try and assemble a sentence from what they think they heard.. Slower helps them catch each word better. With or without a mask makes no difference unless its real lip reading. Most times I deal with that situation, we deal with it by writing on a pad. That too makes it slower, but it avoids misunderstanding.
I think this needs posting again now that we are on a new volume.

Was coming back from Wales for work so did my weekly shop there rather than in England where I would have to mask up. I'd say 30% of people in the supermarket were wearing masks, a significant increase on 2-3 weeks ago.
The most common demographic using them were 25-45 year old, very few oldies wearing them.

That's about the same percentage and demographic that wore them here (North West) the week before the rule kicked in. It looks like mask creep is happening even without it being mandated. The most common demographic using them were 25-45 year old, very few oldies wearing them.
I noticed on an Amazon TV advert they showed two people out walking, both wearing masks. Just the same as the Drover ad I mentioned last week. Mask creep all over.

I'm not sure if the ad was marketing masks, it was more of a general Amazon ad and showing how they had low priced items. Here it is.

It's still annoying, well to me it is. I don't like the way it's being pushed as a new way of life.

Now if we can eventually get the NHS working again I *might* get some titanium bones fitted so I can hear again. fking masks...

Younger people are more likely to asymptomatic or only suffer very minor symptoms so they are the ones that "should" be wearing masks. The most common demographic using them were 25-45 year old, very few oldies wearing them.

Am I really going to spend £££ on this to monitor our office entrance!?!?! Then there's the Amazon ad featuring muzzle enthusiasts walking around outside.....

Wait till you actually try and talk to someone who's deaf/HoH, masks are a fking nightmare...
I do it quite often, what is the issue you have? Usually it is just a case of speaking clearer than maybe normal, and definitely slower.scottyp123 said:

Now throw in a mask (filter) for good measure and you'll understand why I hate them with a passion.

Why? Because he would never have posted such claptrap.
One of the best ways to communicate with a deaf person is with 'facial' expressions and gestures. A tad difficult with a f mask on!
