I had an interesting exchange with a customer today :

ME : "If you're OK to wear a mask, can I ask you to wear it in-store, please?"
Customer : "Nah, mate, I don't believe in them."
Good for him, although all he needed to say was he is exempt.

I guess the issue is that if you're not wearing a mask then it's the 2m rule. As per govt advice.

Government advice also says to not challenge people who are exempt. I dont think shouting at them was part of the advice. Some people just cant help themselves I suppose.
But then again, if the government told you that the virus was only deadly at an altitude of 4 feet, some people would stop walking upright, and start crawling about on all fours.
You have to start asking yourself when it becomes a mental health issue. Walking down the street by yourself wearing a face shield or driving alone wearing a rectangular blue piece of cloth on your face . The new normal. You're welcome to it pal

I think you've gone to a massive extreme there. Quit jumping to conclusions. I'm trying to understand why someone went crazy on the guy with the exemption.

It's bizarre how people are reacting - especially as the abuser is wearing a mask. biggrin

Yeah no problem. His wife is Karen. A generic term for those who are now in their element during ever increasing scenarios such as these. Scenarios that will no doubt escalate to orgasmic proportions for them come Thursday.
I didnt think I was being cool, and you already know why someone is called this particular name, dont you poppy ?
I mean, the fact that this name clearly ruffles your feathers, already tells me just everything I need to know about you.
All the best
Hey, great post and really witty comeback Sean.

Are you closely related to Keith then?

Getting a bit confused here. I thought Karen was the person saying she isn't going to comply, everyone is sheep, she knows better than Chris Whitty and that 5G masts cause Covid. biggrin

So some medical studies and tests to show maks do more harm than good.

Share far and wide.
Oh FFS have you even read that pile of amateur nonsense? If i was anti-mask I'd want to hide those papers as they damaging to my cause. There is a good reason they haven't been published in a recognised journal and it is because they are well short of any reasonable standard for an academic paper. They are laughable.

Don't just take my word for it, go in have a read, look at the language, look at the plots and the use (or not use) of statistics, think about the lack of critical thought from their approach and then finally look who the authors are, just to add a cherry to the stty cake that is those "papers".

Saved for when the Danmask study is finally published.

This label does seem to have taken on entirely different characters on opposing sides of the Atlantic.

It’s a term I’ve used in the past but I think it is terribly flawed and overused.

I also think it’s rather unfortunate for reasonable people everywhere that are actually called Karen.

I am very curious to see what's going to be in that report, do we know when it's going to be published?

I hope I have not offended by posting here, Saaby. I am planning on saying something in the 'best soundtrack' thread later as well. I hope that's okay with you.

Yes. There's only one thing for it. Anyone called Karen should ask to see the manager because they know their rights. biggrin

Yes, it would be nice to see a higher quality RCT published after proper peer review. I wonder when it will be allowed. Face it, we know why it hasn't been allowed.

By all means, but nothing I posted has anything to do with the Danmask report, whatever that may be.

Good on him.
Often lady nonseq has to ask mask wearers who enter her shop to wear it correctly. Over the mouth AND NOSE.

There is nothing wrong with asking and there is nothing wrong with saying no I won't either. They can then decide if they still want your custom or not, if not then there are plenty of other shops that will. Last time I tried to go in a Sainsbury local I got barked at "If you haven't got a mask on then you're not coming in". I said ok no problem I'll go elsewhere then and she replied "well thats fine, you can if you want to" like she was giving me some kind of permission to go elsewhere, for some it just the enjoyment of having some kind of perceived authority.

I guess they won't miss your business as they'll get enough trade in. Also, she's probably been asked to enforce it because if a staff member is kneeling down to stack lower shelves, people are just going to lean over them to grab whatever and breathe all over them. Maybe.
