I guess they won't miss your business as they'll get enough trade in. Also, she's probably been asked to enforce it because if a staff member is kneeling down to stack lower shelves, people are just going to lean over them to grab whatever and breathe all over them. Maybe.
It was this one here.

Nothing but office blocks all around. I'm guessing they will. Actually they won't because the job is finished now and we wouldn't have been back anyway but the point is there must be thousands of businesses like this that are right on the edge of oblivion and to say shoppers don't matter is financial suicide.

and she replied "well thats fine, you can if you want to" like she was giving me some kind of permission to go elsewhere, for some it just the enjoyment of having some kind of perceived authority.
Been there. I get the impression that some fat, bossy women think Christmas has come early.

Or alternatively they may have vulnerable staff who cannot be redeployed in the company or cannot afford to "shield" so in that particular store they are insisting on masks.

Maybe we need to move to the Scottish model where mask exemption cards are issued.

Our local Bargain Buys is closing in 3 weeks, so another one bites the dust. There will soon be more empty units in our Town Centre than trading businesses. Keep wearing your mask though until there are no shops left to require it's use.

Today’s newspaper predicts one in four pubs won’t re open.

I had an interesting exchange with a customer today :

ME : "If you're OK to wear a mask, can I ask you to wear it in-store, please?"
Customer : "Nah, mate, I don't believe in them."
Good on him.
Often lady nonseq has to ask mask wearers who enter her shop to wear it correctly. Over the mouth AND NOSE.
There is nothing wrong with asking and there is nothing wrong with saying no I won't either. They can then decide if they still want your custom or not, if not then there are plenty of other shops that will. Last time I tried to go in a Sainsbury local I got barked at "If you haven't got a mask on then you're not coming in". I said ok no problem I'll go elsewhere then and she replied "well thats fine, you can if you want to" like she was giving me some kind of permission to go elsewhere, for some it just the enjoyment of having some kind of perceived authority.

Scientists based in Cork have developed laser-based imaging to illustrate the stark contrast between not wearing a mask and wearing one to prevent spread of Covid-19.
The researchers at Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) successfully deployed the technique to measure the brightness of micro-droplets emitted through masks.
They noticed images of exhalation could be powerful and impactful. As a consequence, they recorded a series of individual images which they amalgamated into a single image “to demonstrate the effectiveness of mask-wearing to all”. Coronavirus can be transmitted through small airborne droplets emitted when an infected person breathes, speaks or coughs.
The single image, entitled Talking Heads, has been deemed “research image of the year” in the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) 2020 Science Awards.”

A doctored image proves nothing other than the desire they have to prove their point. st like this is misleading and morally wrong.

Who wants to read medical papers on Masks anyway -

Of course, we are assuming that the majority of Covid spread is through airbourne when it's actually through auto-infection through touch.
And not taking into account the fact people touch/fiddle/adjust/reuse their masks.

Which makes them COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE.

Not according to me looking at that picture.

How you can actually type the words “COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE” when even reusable masks are used worldwide in operating theatres and the like?

Surgeons use high grade masks which they wear correctly and dispose of responsibly. The public on the other hand. . . . . .

I don't believe any surgeon uses any re-usable mouth covering type mask.
The surgical masks are one time use only.
