Looks like Mr Lineker is putting his money (mansion) where his mouth is.

Interesting, but I'm not quite sure what he is trying to achieve.

Who else might follow suit?

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one, an think he's doing it because he does care, and clearly has the resources.

If he's met lots of refugee children through his football work already, I guess its the next step and I can understand why he'd want to try.

And let's be clear, he was challenged by an MP on twitter to "put his money where his mouth was", and so he did.

Quite why MPs are engaging with non-politcial figures in such childish retorts I don't know.

Call me Sherlock, but would it be beyond the realms of possibility that he feels he could give a better start to a young life?

Won't be a random straight from the next boat will it?

There will be some stage management and very careful vetting going on behind the scenes (/cynic mode)

It'll be stage managed?

The MP that called out Lineker may have stage managed something:

Its really because he has been challenged on his open border views on Twitter and has finally decided to put money where his mouth is. Hopefully its more than a PR exercise, but the un-woke in me tells me it is.

My bet is that they will be highly vetted and paid a lot of money to behave for the cameras and of course given as many walkers crisps they can eat.

GL: We should do more to help refugees.
Internet: You wouldn't have one living in your home, you bloody hypocrite

GL: I'm opening up my home to a refugee.
Internet: You virtue signalling tt.

Good for him. He's not telling me what I should do, calling me an ahole for not being "woke" enough, or apologising on my behalf. Some kid's going to end up with a better life out of this I should think. Nice to see someone lead by example/put their money where their mouth is. Being cynical, maybe he does get some good press out of it, and maybe other people in a similar position do the same. As long as the kids in question DO end up better off out of the deal I don't see much wrong.

Presumably as philanthropy is its own reward millionaires have been doing this under the radar all along.

I'm just waiting for the rest of the 'no borders' brigade to remove their garden fences and front doors.

It really is the unimaginatively unfunny and hypocritical pond scum that would criticise someone for not doing something, to then criticise them for doing exactly what they asked.

Even if it is a PR stunt it’s still probably more than most people do. Wonder how many people having a go at him even bother to give the homeless their spare change?

Indeed. And on the flip side I’m just waiting for the “All lives matter” brigade to be first in the queue for homing refugees.

Fair play to him, he has gone up several notches in my estimation... He has also set a new bar for all the other celebrities who are complaining about immigration to reach. It is a win win situation either the immigrants get looked after by these rich people or the rich people keep stum to avoid having to do the same...

I assume he will be housing a legal migrant - rather than someone who is here illegally?

It's a shame he couldn't house a homeless UK person rather than encouraging economic migrants.

And BLM need only take the black ones?

You got that from a Facebook meme didn't you?

I'm not sure what ALM actually stand as a movement for but if it's as purported simply to undermine racist killings, and highlight other murders, then that's not a great analogy.
