It's a shame he couldn't house a homeless UK person rather than encouraging economic migrants.
Not virtuous enough.

No brownie points in that.

And BLM need only take the black ones?

You got that from a Facebook meme didn't you?

I'm not sure what ALM actually stand as a movement for but if it's as purported simply to undermine racist killings, and highlight other murders, then that's not a great analogy.
I don’t have Facebook as I’m not a middle aged mum.

I’m just making a point that surely those that were so veracious in letting people know that ALL lives matter then surely that constitutes refugees fleeing to the UK?

Or has it become apparent that the people saying that were talking utter nonsense and just wanted to undermine something that had nothing to do with them?

Look at Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, almost became a refugee himself laughlaugh

Considering the dangers of people smuggling should he not have gone and rescued a someone from a warzone?

The charity is going to do all the work and simply find him a refugee. Personally I'd want to do my own investigation and find a deserving case but in this instance it's a statement on the government's response to migrants crossing the English Channel which seems to have little relevance to anyone's plight prior to their arrival in Europe.

Why do those above assume it will be a child? The percentage of children getting across the channel is low - of the 400 odd this week from what I can find, about 1% where children. A July crossing of over 200, 4 were kids. The average migrant will be adult.

Who will Lineker decide to take in? He won't, the charity Refugees at Home have to pay him a visit to 'assess his home'!
That raised a chuckle - I take it they've never heard of him then? hehe
Even Gary says he has no idea who it will be? Call me a cynic, he'll have been told and know.

The telling line from Lineker is below.
"My kids are all grown up so I've got plenty of room, so if I can help on a temporary basis then I'm more than happy to do so. Why not?"

Place bets now!

I'll go for one month before Gary finds £80k for a terrace in Manchester to give his new chum 'his independence'.

This.

Fair play to him for doing it. But let's see who it is and for how long first.

And it still does not address the point that illegal economic migrants are creating a wider problem for those who need help and get it through legal means.

He's a fanny who wants his mug in the public as much as possible.

Probably thinks it'll make him look even better to his BBC money tree managers.

I'd love to unequivocally welcome his actions but where self-righteous, vocal people in the public eye are concerned, I usually find some cynicism is required.

Might give some of the other 'do as I say, not as I do' 'slebs pause for thought though, since any further lecturing on social media about how we should allow anyone who wishes, entry to the UK will immediately be told to 'do a Gary or shut up'.

It was a wild prediction, a crazy stab in the dark, that, as it transpires, didn't take long to be proven correct.

I don't know how I do it sometimes, I even surprise myself. Predicting that the PH massive would not be impressed....who knew???

Yes, if anyone needs to raise their public profile , it's Gary Lineker. I mean, who is he? Just another 5 minute wonder celeb famous for doing nothing much.

And yes, I hear he's really unpopular at the BBC, so anything he can do to make himself look good will help.

Good of him to do this. If all celebrities/super wealthy started spending their own cash and offering their own facilities rather than begging everyone else to do it, there could be chance to make a difference to a lot of lives (especially if the money and help can bypass the ‘charities’)

Can't quite work this place out.

Lineker doesn't do anything "virtue signalling lefties always telling people what they should do I bet he hasn't done anything to help".

Lineker does do something "virtue signalling lefties he's only doing this for woke points".

Incredible hehe

If you feel that strongly about it why don’t you go and offer a room in your home to a local homeless person or adopt a proper British child yourself? It’s entirely within your gift to do so. Then have a pop at him.

Makes you wonder why you keep coming back, doesn't it smile

Let's see how the story pans out. No need to get all misty eyed just yet.

Like other people who said they'd take in refugees, or people who said they'd leave the country over various things, I'll believe it when it actually happens.

No you won't. If it happens, you'll just find another reason to bh and whine.

You aren't the slightest bit sceptical that the reason he's visibly opening his own home, instead of quietly finding £500 a month to give a whole family a whole home of their own, might be more for the optics than the utility?

I don't want to make the good the enemy of the perfect, but it's not an entirely guile-free manoeuvre from one of Britain's most famous wokers, is it?
