You aren't the slightest bit sceptical that the reason he's visibly opening his own home, instead of quietly finding £500 a month to give a whole family a whole home of their own, might be more for the optics than the utility?

I don't want to make the good the enemy of the perfect, but it's not an entirely guile-free manoeuvre from one of Britain's most famous wokers, is it?
If he did that he'd be accused of fuelling the housing crisis!

Do you imagine Lineker will be daily involved with looking after his new guest for the next few months in a spare bedroom and sharing daily meals followed by sitting together on the sofa watching back episodes of MOTD?
I have no idea, I'd assume he'd want to have a fair amount of involvement with the person, why bother if you don't want anything to do with them?!

Jesus, immigration will go mental now. Come to England and live in a celebrity mansion.

If I can paddle my Kayak to the US border, I wonder if Jennifer Lawrence will make me a bed up at her place wink

How is being a “woker” or “woke” an insult?

Dictionary definition:

Woke: alert to injustice in society, especially racism.

Surely being unwoke is the insult.

The title of this thread makes no sense unless you couldn’t give a toss about either social justice or racism.

Woke has quickly evolved two meanings. It started off not long ago at the dictionary definition. Now it usually means something closer to 'hypocritical over-privileged virtue-signalling hyper-communicative gobste'.

It's good to be what the dictionary says woke means, but it's not good to be 'woke' in terms of what it's now being used to mean.

I think its more sarcasm these days, due to there being a race to be "more woke" than others and the perceived self righteous bragging rights it brings.

Why just one? Could have a cook, gardener, cleaner and driver.

OK he's not such hypocritical tt anymore. Though having a (no doubt) vetted asylum seeker in one room of your massive house is still not the same as having a tax payer funded hotel full of terrorists and criminals at the end of your street which was full of ne'er do wells anyway.

So he is still a tt.

Such people are always very selective regarding what they get outraged about as well.

Fair point, except for the t*at accusation. He believes in unfettered immigration, both from the EU states and the wider world. It's a 'one world' viewpoint that has no solution to how this can be afforded in terms of social cohesion and financial burden to the host countries, but it is a simplistic ideology that many celebrities adhere to!

And it makes them tts. In my book.

As much as I can't stand the man, it's difficult to argue against him when he's actually doing something.

Whether that's the best thing he could be doing is another question.

Wonder how old the 30 year old he'll get will pretend to be. I hope his kids have grown up and left home already.

Indeed. And on the flip side I’m just waiting for the “All lives matter” brigade to be first in the queue for homing refugees.
Are we talking about refugees?

I'd argue once you willingly pass through the first safe country you enter you become an economic migrant.

You can argue that all you like, but the legal framework in place says otherwise.

If someone is genuinely seeking asylum it's a reasonable opinion to hold, you might think he's incorrect, others will agree and disagree.

Have you got a spare room?
You could join Gary in helping out, wouldn't you like to help out?

That's because the legal framework is an ass.

It just highlights how out of touch from reality they are. I think that's what most people get frustrated with.

No that was PurpleMoonlight/SquiddlyDiddly aka Stayed in Bed Instead.

It's easy to get confused when people change their usernames to get away from their previous posts, just like Piha has with his new username - Unknown_User, a comical misnomer hehe
