Nice to see Marcus Rashford on the front page of the BBC.
Better than that BS, he has an Instagram account. Hours off enjoyment there for you. Do come back to the Boris thread to tell us about your favourite pictures.bhstewie said:

Good lad.
Meanwhile I think this is satire but in these strange times it's increasingly hard to be sure.
Tories step up campaign to prevent children eating by criminalising grandparents who give kids sweets

I think you see hear and read so much crap and rhetoric about young people that it's nice to see someone doing something so positive.Let's face it the lad is richer at 22 than I expect most of us will ever be.
He doesn't have to give up his time to do this sort of thing and he could hang up his boots tomorrow and toddle off with an MBE which is what I suspect the Government thought he might do when they awarded him one.
I'd simply call it giving credit where it's due.

Because people are paid stupid money to kick a bag of air about, and he is good at it. Nothing to admire about that. Now, if he was arguing against child obesity though diet and exercise perhaps ...

Does it matter whether you like football or what footballers are paid? Probably not. Now, if he was arguing against child obesity though diet and exercise perhaps ...
He has a profile, he used it for good, he's supported by a large proportion of the nation, but seemingly no longer by the government. That's a shame in my eyes.

I agree they're paid obscene amounts but that isn't their own personal fault and in many cases if it wasn't for football their lives would have turned out very differently.
You have a lad who's come from a background where he could have turned out "ill-raised, ignorant, aggressive and illegitimate" to use Johnson's own words on the children of single parents who's teaching our politicians a thing or two about humanity.
You can or should only applaud that.
Ask yourself what Johnson was signing off with last night if he actually gives a st.

You can’t make it up.
Nice to see Naga Munchetty making Ben Bradshaw look a complete tool on BBC Breakfast right now
As for the state of that post above by Selaine Saxby I wonder if they actually think before they write this stuff.
They don't vote to feed kids and now they don't want businesses who do so to seek Government support.
You couldn't make that up

Up until the point Bradshaw was cut off he seemed to be handling the interview quite well and explained just how much money the Govt have given to local authorities to deal with the issue being discussed, feeding kids, amongst other support.
The figures being mentioned seemed extremely high, did I really hear £9Bn over the last six months, with another £1Bn this month?
If true, the alleged lack of support the Govt is providing in this area isn't as true as is being commented upon.

On top of that, the government has announced several temporary expansions to the welfare system, including increasing the universal credit (UC) standard allowance by around £1,000 per year, suspending the ‘minimum income floor’ (and so boosting benefit entitlements among low-income self-employed claimants) and raising the maximum amount of housing support for private renters. Together, the temporary giveaways (including related changes to the legacy benefits system) cost an additional £9 billion

Apologies for a couple of clips though I imagine the full interview will be online later.
I do like Naga Munchetty.

And now Boris has gone soft on immigration, at least compared to Theresa May. In an unannounced change he has lowered the minimum salary for unskilled migrants to be able to settle in the country from £35k down to £25k.
No idea why he would try to introduce that on the QT...
Good grief! No idea why he would try to introduce that on the QT...
The tories kept that one quiet. I wouldn't be surprised if many folk just voted for the tories simply because of their strong anti immigration ideology!

We need immigrants, and now can draw from the whole world on an equal basis for those that we need, some of which will be in highly paid roles, and some of which will be in essential, lower paid roles.
