I just don’t understand the point of a full lockdown but keeping schools open, all the sacrifice aspects of the lockdown itself is immediately undone the second the school gates open each morning.
You have to seriously question the motives of those in charge when they come up with such decisions.
Without the kids in school, almost all parents are unavailable for work (and kids lose even more education). It's the maximum "affordable" lockdown. You have to seriously question the motives of those in charge when they come up with such decisions.
I think in a future lockdown there will be more people "going to work if you are able" than the previous, even if retail still gets a second killing.

Herd immunity is pie in the sky.
it is a very good strategy combined with the data available as well as focusing on who actually dies from it and protecting them , over economic suicide.just looking at France for under 65s.
Well take away the population 0-20 age as it is very clearly it doesn't kill them.
So you are left with 39 million 20-64 (over 65s removed)
65% HiT would be 25 million.
.1 Infection mortality rate would mean 25k dead.
It is impossible to get 400k dead, HiT is there it has to be factored in,

So the German lockdown is nothing like the French lockdown at all. It's just pubs, restaurants and gyms closed and limited gatherings no stay at home order retail shutdown. German lockdown is basically our tier 3.

With what aim?
I see so many posts on here complaining about loss of freedoms, rights and democracy. Why would any government choose any course of action which is so damaging to their economy if it was not strictly necessary?
How many food managers have you worked under. The bad ones did they know they were bad managers or did they just get away with it for using certain tatics and traits to enforce their management style. I see so many posts on here complaining about loss of freedoms, rights and democracy. Why would any government choose any course of action which is so damaging to their economy if it was not strictly necessary?

Short answer: they’re thick as bricks, badly advised, panicked and don’t know how to get back to sane. I see so many posts on here complaining about loss of freedoms, rights and democracy. Why would any government choose any course of action which is so damaging to their economy if it was not strictly necessary?

Assuming that you meant good - instead of food - I consider myself very lucky to have worked with exceptional people, even if I didn't always appreciate it at the time.
i would say good managers are few and far between. I made the comparison as it works for leaders, and both bad traits are; Weak managers, rude managers, waffling managers, tyrannical managers - there are so many different varieties of managerial incompetence.
Moonshot,world class, etc
Yet the reality was totally different.

One thing I never see mentioned is what is happening in China.....
Given they are northern hemisphere, what’s happening to their infection rates, or is the virus effectively gone from within their borders (assuming no massaging of news or figures?)
A friend of mine is working in China now, says everything back to normal, you wouldn't know anything is happening. He's been going to restaurants, gyms, night clubs, all completely normal, no restrictionsGiven they are northern hemisphere, what’s happening to their infection rates, or is the virus effectively gone from within their borders (assuming no massaging of news or figures?)

Isn't herd immunity the thing that has stopped the human race going extinct many many times over in the last few million years.skinnyman said:

Almost like they pulled a fast one on the West, huh? Amazing how little attention is being paid to this. wobert said:

It’s basically gone. Given they are northern hemisphere, what’s happening to their infection rates, or is the virus effectively gone from within their borders (assuming no massaging of news or figures?)
They do get a few imported cases but jump on them extremely quickly and aggressively.
They had a few cases in Qingdao a couple of weeks back and tested all 9M inhabitants in just over a week .
You can do that in a totalitarian state.
They had 42 today which is a very high number for them today. No doubt there will be some action tomorrow.
