I don't think we'll see much of an increase.

The people who are all for lockdown wouldn't have visited others over Xmas. Those who think lockdown is a bit extreme would have carried on as normal i.e visiting others as they usually do.

My Xmas was just like any other normal day. Visit family and friends as I'd usually do.
Except police stopped people travelling all over Wales. North Wales police reported people travelling to Snowdon on NY Day
"Several reported for Covid-19 breaches already today - with some travelling here from as far as Southampton, Kent & Sollihull.
"Please do not travel for exercise."

Fines were issued to a minibus full of people from different households who travelled to Pen y Fan from Cheltenham, are car parks at the beauty spot were full despite repeated warnings on travel.

I heard from a friend that there were police checks on the main road into Porthcawl with several people stoppedand reported for travelling some distance.
The amount of stop checks the police carry out is irrelevant.

Those who find the whole lockdown regulations nonsense will carry on as normal.

Christmas would have been no different for them.

And thats probably why Wales faced such a rapid rise in cases...

As for stop checks - Fine until you see how many people are fined in the courts. Pembrokeshire travellers found themselves paying out £880 last time.
There were checks by St Clears on the 28th...

Ministers are preparing to review restrictions this Thursday ahead of an announcement on Friday, January 8.
But First Minister Mark Drakeford has warned there is not "much headroom for change".
And with the next review not for another three weeks it means the lockdown could extend to the end of January.

Percentages without knowing the baseline numbers is pretty much useless.

Did Guessing give those or just present percentages?

He gave a range of stats one that was critical care actual figs.

I fully agree %ages are pointless, but they do appear to be the weapon of choice for choice weapons who are keen to downplay the impact.

If you last paragraph is directed at me, then you’re wasting your time..... laugh

The point is, which you agree with, one piece of information without the other is pointless.....

Ah yes, if the restrictions aren't working it's clearly because people aren't following them - not because the restrictions themselves don't work.

How long have Leicester been in lockdown again?

Lockdown 1 worked because people stayed home, went out for an hours exercise. This lockdown has mostly been ignored, hence the cases still rising. I don't see whats so difficult to understand.

Scotlands now gone for a full lockdown, I suspect Wales will follow soon and Boris will bumble on doing the same in about a week...

Or perhaps it was because schools were all working from home in Lockdown 1?

We know that the virus is now spreading much quicker due to the new strain, the lockdown may well be working because we don't know how much worse things would be without one.

This is the single element that wasn’t the same in Nov and yet things didn’t improve.

It’s proven beyond doubt it is the key driver.

Really? Or did lockdown 1 work because schools were closed and the virus was not as prevalent in the population at large?
There is a paper being cited on TV (I can't find it- any PHer's seen it?) that studied 12 million children and concluded there was little evidence of children suffering from covid or passing it on confused - whilst the CDC has published a report showing how young children can pass on covid and an Icelandic study concluded under 15s were half as likely to pass on Covid. I believe it is this first paper that government are clinging on to.
Following bad science is not going to help - much like believing in cloth masks (Latest from the Lancet)

I live in the green area. SW is snookered behind the red ball. Mid to SW because of travel to the S for work perhaps or we're dealing with the valleys where the forgotten don't give a carp?
No matter what, the ambling turtle will lump us all together.

A bloody long time.

If some people aren't following the request, it's the people at fault, if lots of people aren't following the request, it's the request which is wrong.

Putting out more and more rules which fail to get followed isn't going to improve matters.
